Hi, I think the current series is different to the one in the prebvious topic, so I've started a new thread, I hope you don't mind. (Mods, if there is a thread for the new one then please move me over there).

 

Did anyone see this last night? (Wild duck)

 

The "animal lover" girl made me laugh out loud in frustration. She previously "kept" ducks, which turned out to mean that she had some fluffy ducklings and when they turned into fully grown ducks, she didn't want them any more.

 

When asked what she did with them, she proudly announced that she let them free on a lake.

 

Very caring, I thought.

 

 

Looking forward to the next one, as they are dealing with fluffy bunnies.

Oh No! - I didn't know it had started - I'd like to have seen that one......I'll have to have a look and see if it's repeated.

 

The only gripe I had with the last series is that the audience eat very fresh meat - which isn't how most meat is eaten I think they need to do a bit of a Blue Peter - and produce some to cook that has been hung for the average length of time.

This series is all about people hunting wild game. Last week, which I didn't see, was venison.

I've been watching it on BBC3 aswell this week, but I've only caught the first 3/4 of an hour of all of them because when they start killing Mom and Dad start to get squeamish

 

 

I don't really agree with the comment the animal care centre lady made, that most veggies don't have any contact with animals. I think that sometimes it's the animal contact which makes people become veggies.

Hi Everyone

Our 17 year son at the moment is learning about the county side , the environmental conservation and gamekeeping at Myerscough College at Bilsborrow near Preston.

So we are seeing both sides of game keeping at the moment.

But game keeping is not all about killing it is about the improvement of the wildlife habitat, which in turn helps improve where game can be kept.

The breeding programs to help all wild life, stock management,

maintaining the environment , constructing and repairing boundaries also access points.

Communicating with the public and understanding their concerns.

We understand that the kill, pluck, cut , cook and eat is part of life.

So we hear about it first hand as he learns about his course about looking after and protect the habitats, natural environment, and hopefully prevent pollution.

I agree, I spent many summers helping out on a farm when I was a kid and my dad has been involved in the poultry industry (with cute fluffy chicks) all his working life so it definitely had an impact on me/being a vegetarian.

It's on BBC3, 2.45am-3.45am, tonight is the grouse one, the duck one was yesterday - you can still catch it in the iplayer.

I saw all but the last ten minutes of the rabbit one last night. I could have set it to sky plus but I have to say so many of them had irritated me I couldn't be bothered.

I wish the ones who were so set against it all had done a little research. I notice they were vegetarians not vegans and had no alternative answers.

I wonder if they had been the first to complain when their weren't enough arable crops to go around.

I get very very fed up with all the Veggie-baiting that goes on, on TV and in real life. It would be refreshing if just for once the researchers for these programmes would find a vegetarian who isn't a total dipstick and irritating as hell.

It particularly annoys me when the annoying presenter says to the veggie "did the blood/shooting/dead animals upset you?" really rubbing it in and seeing if she can make them cry for good tv.
