Chickvic
Is anyone watching this programme (Channel 4) They have a green and pink eglu!
laurmurf
Me and ED are watching like this - - why did these parents think this sort of experiment would be good for a child's self esteem? Has she never read 'Lord of the Flies'? God help those chickens! Are we all ready to step in and save them if necessary?!
Old Speckled Hen
Shocking!! Are there chooks in the eglu? Is anybody going to look after them? Back to CSI
Chickvic
I am very outraged at the treatment of the chickens, someone should have stopped them!
Lewis
Are there chooks in the eglu? Is anybody going to look after them? I've seen a little Bantam, and there was a big Hybrid on the kitchen table!! They've got ducks aswell, and one of the suggested punishments was to catch a duck . xChicken04x
I'm watching. It's interesting, but some of the children are just badly behaved and spoilt. I feel sorry for the chickens, that little lad should have known better than to chase it, it's not like he's a toddler. They do have adults there to step in if need be, so I assume they will be on chicken duty . The language on them is awful, very sad to watch . Lewis
I've just spotted a Guinea Pig aswell! All of the children have chaperones, and there are producers etc. I noticed one of the cameramen stepped in when they had a rake in the bedroom. If it really was that bad and dangerous for the children, it wouldn't be allowed to be filmed and put on TV.
kitbag
I watched this and the big fight between the girls really upset me. It was blatant bullying and it shouldn't of been allowed to happen. Also will those chickens be looked after properly!? I really hope they will!
ClaireG
I watched it as well. First thing i spotted was the eglus I felt so sorry for the chicken on the table with the boy waving the brolly so close to it
Phonix
it was on when i flicked through the channels but i didn't leave it on long enough to see the eglu's
Egluntyne
I watched about 5 minutes. Looks like TV has plumbed new depths.
clootie
The trailers were enough to put me off.
Ain't Nobody Here
Wasn't there a programme similar to this a couple of years ago? Surely that was enough to prove how "boys and girls alone" will behave . It's not hard to imagine, after all . Don't you think that the type of kids (and parents) who actually want to be on TV in this type of programme are just the type that will behave really badly (I hesitate to say they must all be attention-seeking, spoilt, show-offs as I haven't seen this programme ). freddie
Channel 4 should be taken to task for this. These revolting brats were chasing/ poking/manhandling the animals and each other. God help us all if this is the next generation. I was mortified
Lesley
I can't see the point of the programme at all - what are they trying to prove I caught some of it on Ch4 + 1 to see the Eglus and hens (I missed them anyway) - I won't be watching any more. poachedegg
I have voted with my feet and refuse to watch it even for 1 minute - cheap, manipulative, exploitive, car crash, banal tv.
craftyhunnypie
I didn't see it, but I don't like things like that - as I was bullied as a child..it was hell! The future generation frightens me. Occassionally, you get the odd nice few children & it's a relief to see that some parents have done their job properly! For parents that have nice, respectful, well mannered children - be proud! bronze
I didn't watch either The trailers were enought to upset me. How can parents do that!
chickencam
My ED watched this she is 15 and was shocked at the treatment of the animals and the way the children were so horrible to each other. I decided that it was car crash TV and not worth my time, sounds like I was right It is a shame that all children may be now tarred with the same brush . We were out at DS's parents evening last night. We were very proud of the things that his teachers said about his polite and positive attitude. Not only this we were really impressed to see the boys that were there standing aside to let people pass, holding doors opening and generally being polite. There are good kids out there
Old Speckled Hen
Encore We need a "Be Proud" thread. I'm sure most of our kids here are wonderful ... But you're right. I'm aghast that parents could let their children participate but then maybe they are the same as their children and bask in the reflected glory. The Dogmother
I refuse to watch these programmes (that and most of what's on the telly ) I totally fail to see the point; it is neither informative, nor entertaining... (sorry, been listening to Prudence!)
Seagazer
I decided not to watch it either, I knew I would get upset with the shouting and fighting. I can't for the life of me think why a parent would want their child to do this programme.
fluffyknickers
Just been on the news about this programme as being full of bullying and expolitation of children and being called "big brother for children". i dont know how the mothers could sit and watch their child being bullied/doing the bullying/crying - I found it disturbing and not my child. x

What made Channel 4 think this would be a good idea I wonder?
baby bears mum
Didn't see this - the trailers were enough. As this is merely trash tv and the children will have probably been chosen for their "characters" (and possibly that of the parents ) I am pretty sure that the majority of children out there are actually quite normal. I'm proud of my daughter. Not only is she a good student, a polite girl and a wonderful friend to her friends she is also someone I would like to know even if she wasn't my daughter. So three cheers to all those good kids out there.
