Morris: A Life With Bells On.

Recommended Posts

Saw a piece about this on the news yesterday. Anyone seen it?

Looks as if it might be this years unexpected success. It is wowing audiences at private screenings, but they need a big distributer to take it on.

If you like the sound of it, perhaps you might sign the petition....maybe the Omlet effect will strike again.

It was supposed to be at a festival in the states so we just had to whoop and cheer when the chaps came on stage. A couple of them were worth whooping and cheering at so it wasn't the most difficult acting in the world!!

The only thing was - I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't enough people there to make it look like a really good festival so they may have had to redo the scene some other way. I haven't been an extra before and am unlikely to do it again but it was good fun!

This film has been in the can for forever. The director emailed me ages ago because I'd emailed them to find out when it would be released. They didn't know. I can't believe it doesn't have a national release with there still being a vibe for trad British films like The Full Monty, Brassed Off, Calendar Girls and even Hot Fuzz. Stellar cast, great premise. I want to see it!

Thank you, Egluntine, for mentioning this. I wouldn't have known anything about it, if you hadn't. I've signed - I was a morris dancer for years, with about three different sides, a foreman for two of the sides and for a time an ILEA evening class tutor in Cotsworld morris dancing. Taught myself to play the anglo-german concertina. I've made dozens of sets of bell pads and countless baldricks, cut down hazel coppices to make sticks, and danced at dawn on 1 May in Essex, Bristol, Sussex. Those were among the happiest days of my life.

Also went to school with Harriet Walter 8)
