My poorly lad - gruesome pics warning

Recommended Posts

My poor lad Baden (aka Kop Boy) has had a cough on and off for the past two weeks.

On Wednesday we noticed that he had a black eye. We asked him what he had done and he said that he had no recollection of bashing it. Then his eyeball started to redden. Then the other eye went black underneath and the other eyeball went red. I got an appointment at the doctors on Thursday as I was getting really concerned. he still maintained that he hadn't bashed it and I couldn't even put it down to sports as he is on half term.

The cough has been so bad during the nights that he has vomited. The doctor reckons that during these coughing fits, he has burst blood vessels in his eyes and this has caused the redness and bruising. She said that his eyes will turn completely red over the next few days then turn yellow, brown, purple, etc through all the usual colours for bruising. Baden thinks this is great. We thinks he looks like something from an Omen film.

I was reading this thinking - I bet he thinks its cool!

When I was a child one of my eyes was like this after an operation, it took weeks to fade, I got a lot of mileage (and ice creams and chocolate!) out of it :D

I hope it clears up quickly and his cough gets better, it must have been a terrible cough to cause broken blood vessels :(

I know people say "you know that thing that's going around" but I know so many people who've had this terrible cough recently that it's scary! DH and I have had it and I'm struggling to shake it. I've had to try sleeping propped up a few times as it's just overwhelming when I lie down and I've nearly made myself sick too!

Has Baden tried sleeping propped up by pillows? It might help at night because I've found when I lie down, it triggers it worse. I've strained a muscle in my chest with it all.

Also, a glass of water kept by the bed for it gets really bad and maybe he could try some hot water with honey and lemon in it before bedtime?

Also, Jakemans cough lozenges have been brilliant for relieving the tickle.

Hope he feels better soon.

 goodness. On a positive note it really brings out the green in his eyes though :D

Poor thing he must have been really coughing a lot. My YS has this at the moment and has had to use his inhaler such a lot over the last week as he just felt like he couldn't breathe. I've had it as well and felt as if I'm struggling for breath so he has my full sympathies.

An ex-neighbour of mine had this happen to her whilst she was giving birth. :? It really made me jump when she knocked on my door.

I hope your son recovers soon.
