Jules.
ps its called Moxibustion htheres also accupuncture and standing on your head. Ok not that far but getting head below body. All worth trying before getting physical they shouldnt be thinking of it yet anyway as theres plenty of time and it sounds like theyre freaking her out all of mine were breech up til about 37 weeks except of course Nia who was born at 27 Thanks Bron, my brains are mush about things most times. I agree with you as well about trying other things first, manual turns can be dangerous & cause abruptions, as well as being successful Crafty has your sister thought about a natural breech birth if it came to that? There are midwives out there who can do these nowadays still. Tell her to sleep on her left side from now on, that's supposed to get the baby into a good birth postition as well!! I would heartily recommend her contacting AIMS anyway about any worries or niggles she may have re her midwives/care x Send her our love x
Scramble
Good Luck! Also, thought this would be interesting for you to know, just read it in one of dad's new books. Babies are born before their brains have reached maturity. Why? (not in the exact scientific wording but you'll get the idea ) Humans used ot walk like apes, bent over using their knuckles as front legs,. When we evolved and learnt to walk on our hind legs, (so we could see over the long grasses in the savannahs to look for predators) this ment there was an increased weight on the pelvis, thereofre it thicken to hold the weight thus making the birth canal thinner. As humans were getting more intelligent, the head was expanding to fit the ever growing brain, but babies are born beforer their brains reach matuarity otherwise they simply would not fit out of the birth canal. So there you go.
ruth1
Hope your sister's baby turns naturally Craftyhunnypie. I've got my 20 week scan on june 1st and am counting down, Im wishing this year away as I'm already fed up being pregnant, maybe because I've felt so bad and just havent been able to enjoy it. We've had the chicken pox scare, I havent had it and it went round work like a rash a few weeks ago, but thankfully after tests i'm immune ( 3 weeks it took to get the results, I was a nervous wreck). Fainted while holding the horse while he was getting his feet done, came round being held up by a rather scared looking farrier and a horse peering at me as if to say what are you doing? Which I have to say if it hadnt been so embarrassing it would have been really funny. I'll bet he's really looking forward to his next visit. nearly halfway there, yay
Becka
You're not alone, I'm wishing away the rest of my pregnancy too! I have terrible heartburn day and night which I don't remember being this awful before. I waken up during the night in pain and cannot bend over during the day as it starts it off really badly. That's my excuse for not weeding the garden anyway! If anyone has an effective alternative to Gaviscon (yeuch) please let me know. So there you go. I agree that's a fantastic design for the brain Did you know that the skull plates can slide over each other to assist with the birth & only fuse hard much later on? Skulls can be dated by this hardening. But, I'm going to disagree with you about the evolution theory, I believe that our bodies are so fantastic in every way that they could only be created by God, not evolved from nothing x
the hopefulls
Hi all sorry we've been away for a long long long time, computer wiped all my pass words and couldn't get it sorted etc etc, so we're now catching up on whats been going on and came across this thread. congratulations to everyone, we too are expecting, due on 17th july, and we don't know what flavour. We have a 34 week scan coming up soon to check on the low lying placenta, fingers crossed it's moved and we'll be able to have home water birth that we would like. Good luck to everyone, speak soon
The Dogmother
Good luck to you all. Emma - don't worry about your sister, apart for her doing too much. The baby wil be doing a lot of growing now and she'll need to have a bit of rest. I had a footling breech baby (feet first instead of bum) and she was big too - 8lb7oz and I'm weeny. They decided to deliver her 2 weeks early by c section and I was delighted as it was very uncomfortable by that stage. I had the utmost confidence in my obstetrician and it went swimmingly; I think that my positive attitude helped with the recovery too, which went very well. If she is monitored well, then she will get the best treatment. She will need lots of support from OH afterwards though as some things (like heavy lifting) aren't possible
theherd123
Emma im sure your sister will be just fine Accupuncture is brilliant for turning breech babies so i would strongly suggest she goes down this route. Is there any chance of pictures of all your bumps? You must all be getting quite big now. I only let the OH take a couple of pictures of me with bump and that was the day before Bean arrived - talk about timing!
Chook n Boo Mum
Congratulations all you expectant & newly delivered bods Em, my DH wanted to do the portfolio for his ARPS (Associate of the Royal Photographic Society I think) using my growing bump as his subject....we've had two children and only have one very grumpy pic of me in an obviously expectant state, not the beautiful range of photos...and he still only has LRPS after his name !! bronze
Is there any chance of pictures of all your bumps? You must all be getting quite big now. I only let the OH take a couple of pictures of me with bump and that was the day before Bean arrived - talk about timing! I promised myself I would get a bump photo this time then he decided to be a bit early. I'm sure she'll be fine crafthunnypie. I emptied a compost bin and dug it over into a veg patch the day before this tim. If anything being active keeps you fitter meaning giving birth is easier
The Dogmother
I was still exercising and teaching fitness 2 weeks before I had my whopper. Mind you, I had scaled it down a bit - the exercise, not the bump!
theherd123
I loved keeping active when i was pregnant. I did yoga before i was pregnant and continued throughout until i was 40 weeks. I also worked until 39 weeks, walked the dogs while i was in labour and even went out for a meal too!! In fact i was sending text messages and emails when i was 5 cm dilated - much to the dismay of the midwife
Aunty e
Right bump piccie here http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f225/AuntyE/Babyclothes018.jpg She was breech in this one, but she's much more impressive when she's transverse like today and I look enormous. I prefer her in breech as I found walking, eating and breathing tricky when she was head down, but I can make her move round by doing downward facing dog with my heels against a wall and then lifting a foot to the wall and holding it up there for a bit, then swapping. It's one of my prenatal yoga positions, and she almost always moves around fairly seriously after yoga. I am not a fan of ECV (turning baby manually) having known a woman who had a placental abruption as a result. If madam engages in breech I'm having a c section, and that's the end of it. They're not as terrible as all that, much as I'd like to avoid one. Moxibustion is good, as is hypnotherapy and acupuncture for turning breech babies. If I were your sister, I would get me to a yoga class and get on my head sharpish before that baby gets any bigger - also make sure she's drinking GALLONS of water, so that she has lots of amniotic fluid for bubs to move in. I'm not surprised you're worried, she sounds very uncomfortable.

Aunty e
You should see me now, I'm looking HUGE! I'll post another pic in a couple of weeks and you can see the difference. May have to stop cycling to work soon, but I HATE the tube so much. Had a nightmare last night that OH had somehow found out that Imogen was a boy and had to break the news to me. Am now very tempted to go and have another scan, just in case.
mostin
I just came on here to thank everybody for alllllll the information you have posted on this thread. Once again omlet has come to the rescue, and you didn't even know it. I have been offline all week as I have been visiting my friend, who is 36 weeks pregnant. When I arrived at her house on Monday night she was in a bit of a state as she had just found out that the baby was breech and they had booked her in for a manual turning on the Weds morning. She was very upset due to the risks of the procedure, and that if it didn't work then it would scupper all her chances of the home water birth that she wanted. Now I know absolutely nothing about babies or any of that, but i remembered what I read on here. We looked up the yoga positions online and she spent part of the monday night upside down . We got her booked in with an accupuncturist on tues for moxibustion therapy, and he sent us home with some of the sticks so we could do another of the treatments that night. She also spent part of Tues night upside down. Her hubby thought we were barking, and although he was sweet and supportive I could tell in his heart he thought it was a load of mumbo jumbo. They went for the scan on Weds morning, and baby had turned . Her hubby couldn't stop laughing, he was so relieved she didn't have to have the procedure. He says he'll eat any hat we choose for him . Thank you very much omlet xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ruth1
That's fantastic Mostin, there's a lot to be said for prenatal yoga, I cant find anything like that around here. Had my 20 week scan on Monday and everything is going well, the scan was amazing and we now know we are expecting a little boy I actually got just as much enjoyment watching OH watching the scan, his face was a picture and I know he cant wait. Ive started clearing the house out and decided it all needs redecorated and the spare room still needs carpets and doors before bump arrives, its not all going to happen.
