Ain't Nobody Here
Do it! Do it! You really won't regret it . I think a lot of us had moments of panic and doubt when starting out (I'm sure there was a thread on just that recently!) but it really is a great thing to do . Chicken keeping is very easy and great fun .
chickinboy
Go on! As a newbie, who's only had chickens for a week - I can already say that life in my garden has transformed! We get endless visitors from young relatives, and we've actually started speaking to our neighbours(!) - everyone loves them. I'm still learning everything, but a week in, we've got a routine down, and they're already eating out of my hand. They 'speak' to me when I walk up the garden, and come running when they know they're getting a treat. One word of advice - you can be responsible for your own animals, but not other people's! Be sure to check everything is secure BEFORE your ladies arrive. I made sure they couldn't escape, and spent ages fox-proofing - but didn't even think about next door's dog leaping over the wall! I'm sure you'll love it - we do already!
Hen Watch
Go for it Jenny. I did the same as you and read the forum for ages before getting my girls. And it is amazing what tips you pick up before they arrive just from browsing other peoples posts. So before mine arrived I already had an idea of bedding material, what treats and when, plus health things to look out for. So you've done your research, time to take the plung. And remember the folk on this forum are here for any questions. They all get answered even if they've been asked a million times before, because we all remember what it was like in those early days of chicken keeping. Good luck with the decision. Jennyhenny
Thank you to everyone of you I appreciate your help and support. I've decided to go for it and now I can't wait I had to wait til husband came home cos I couldn't make the decision on the colour. I phoned at 5.50 pm to place the order but unfortunately it was an answer machine saying all operators were busy and to leave a message and they would call me back. As yet nothing, I think I may have missed them and they had gone home for the night. I left my number so fingers crossed I should get a call first thing tomorrow morning. Its going to be a long night I will keep you posted with what happens tomorrow, thanks again to everyone. Jennyhenny
