bluekarin
I've been reading Confessions of an eco shopper (a shopaholic who tries to be ethical in everything she buys and uses for a year) and have found some interesting things in it, namely the Udderly Smooth moisterising cream. Apparently it was originally made for cows udders but people have found it to be marvelous on their hands. Especially those with eczema. Mine has flared up again, not helped by the-making-of-our-chickens-run yesterday where they have got torn up from stapleing on the chicken wire *ouch* So before I buy some, I have to get it online as there are no stockists in Wiltshire I thought I'd ask all of you knowledgeable peeps
The Dogmother
Sorry, I have heard of it, but not used it. I have found the Johnsons Tea tree Cream to be excellent though; I use it on my animals and always rub the excess into my hands, which helps with the eczema. The Dogmother
Just been reading up on your udder cream and it contains 10% urea, so should be good at softening the skin.
bluekarin
It does sound amazing, especially after reading all the testimonials. I think I might go ahead and get the extra care cream. I have added our local Boots store to their list so they might get sent some samples and then start stocking it edited to add: http://feltlikestitchin.co.uk/uddercream.aspx this person is sending out samples which I have sent off for. I shall report back if I get some as to what to cream is like.
ChickenJo
Hi - Ive used it !! one of my friends grew up on a farm and her mum used it all the time ... it works brilliantly. I would have thought any country shop / wholesalers should stock it.
Ygerna
I've been having trouble with my hands, itching, red, rough, horrible scaley looking and thats on a good day. We visited hubbys brother and his wife at the weekend, she saw my hands and gave me some cream to try. Its fabulous, it really made a difference after the one application. The snag is, she makes it herself. I have put in an order for some as I was so impressed but she is not allowed to sell it to the general public because she has to get it certified and that would cost about £150 Not a lot of help but, my point is that maybe you can make something yourself perhaps. tiggerlady
Any chance of the recipe then, Ygerna, seeings as it cant be sold perhaps we could have a go at 'home brewing'!???
Old Speckled Hen
I have excema on my hands and it comes and goes. The only thing that has ever helped me, and it is miraculously fast, is a gentamycin/hydrocortisone cream that I got from a pharmacy when I was on holiday in Italy. I have sent off for a sample of this Udderly Smooth as I hate to rely on antibiotics and steroids. BUT it set me thinking. There seem to be a few of us here with excema and I never had it till I got the chooks. Could we be allergic? I would never give them up though. fluffyknickers
It could be because you wash your hands more now you have chickens. My hands before children were always fine, then when had babies and always washing my hands got very sore and eczema etc. M

It was originally behind my knees and then it moved to my hands and feet where it has stayed. I think washing hands more does make them dry out and for me make them itchy, but I don't think it is chook related.

BeckyBoo
I didn't get an email. Wonder if I will get a sample? You HAVE to get one, you started it! Maybe my request was just one too many and made her wonder why she was suddenly getting inundated! She said she's ordering more and presumably you sent for yours before I did. Don't worry, if you don't get one and I do, I'll send it to you, like I said, you started it! BeckyBoo

I think you are probably right though and hopefully I will be first on the list I have to say it is quite nice to be the one to introduce something new to all of you, instead of me learning about new must haves
Falkor
i have suffered with ezcema all my life and the only time that i never really suffered was when i worked on a diary farm I used to go into the dairy at least once a week and help with the milking so I got a fair bit of udder cream on my hands. Amazing stuff. The farmers daughter even used it when she was breast feeding
