BeckyBoo
I know, I know, opinion is divided, but I have two small tattoos, one on my right arm and one "somewhere else" and for my 40th last July I always said I was going to treat myself to something bright and big and colourful! So July came and went and I didn't have the time, then I didn't have the money and then it just sort of faded away. Well a friend of mine went the week before last and had one done, and then my tax credits came in and I thought, stuff it, I'm going to get it done. I'd already done the design so last week I took it into the shop and showed the guy and I'm booked in for 1pm today!! I am BESIDE myself with excitement, not at the prospect of two hours of pain but I've got my clary sage oil which got me through labour so fingers crossed! BeckyBoo Edited to say, it's not going to say "life begins at 40" but that's why I'm getting it done!
Falkor
What is it? Or do we have to guess! Is is a chicken? Good luck for this afternoon although I quite enjoyed getting my two

BeckyBoo
Once it's healed I'll post a picture, no one knows, except a friend on the school run. And another friend on the school run. And you lot. And my friend at work!! Best kept secret then!! Anyway, on my back there will be a full moon (NOT the bottom kind! ) with clouds either side all in shades of grey, then coming out through one cloud and swirling around and back through the other cloud will be a cascade of brightly coloured stars which swil over my shoulder and down and around a "blue marble" view of the earth. Basically I have a very faded flower on my right shoulder which he is going to cover with a blue earth, the stars will go around that. In amongst the stars will be G an L and an H (childrens initials) and around the earth it will say "child of the universe" (From Desiderata for which I am eternally grateful to Poet!). Sounds a bit yucky but I think it will look good. In about a week you can be the judges! BeckyBoo

stoice
Edited to say, it's not going to say "life begins at 40" but that's why I'm getting it done! That was my first thought when I read the title of your thread!! Wonder if the udderly smooth cream as mentioned in another thread will help after you have had it done? Can't wait for the pics! BeckyBoo
He wouldn't do it. Gutted, completely gutted! It's because I get exczema (sp?) not badly but enough that he was worried about it not healing and insisted on doing a spot test. So basically I've come away with three colour dots to make sure they heal, if they do then game on. And I know he was being VERY responsible doing that and I'm sure I'll be grateful, and yes, I've waited since July so I can wait another fortnight but still. Gutted! So now I have a whole afternoon and can't settle on doing anything. In fact I'm going to get my bike out and cycle to the gym, 'bout time I did something about the size of my butt and now is as good a time as any - I need a good beasting to get over the disappointment. fluffyknickers
How exciting - cannot wait to see pics. I have three tattoos - a bow on my foot, some tiny stars on the inside of my wrist and my childrens names and a butterfly on the top of my hip - all very small. Actually hated tattoos til i got mine done! Must admit I still dont like some like when people are covered in them but they are addictive. Hope you aren't too sore. x EDIT - Oh sorry just read your post.
Valkyrie
That's a pity - couldn't it be done in small doses? Sounds a like it will be a masterpiece.

LisaP
Sorry it didn't happen today and was a bit of an anti-climax for you but fingers crossed it will be done in a couple of weeks. Lisa P
Olly
how disappointing, but probably the right thing to do - hope you can go ahead in a week or two! I have two tatts, one is very small (as I was so scared the first time!) and has faded a bit now, I'd love to have something else put over it. As soon as I'd had it done I wished I'd had a bigger one! Your plan sounds lovely. I actually find the process of having a tattoo quite exciting. I look forward to seeing it in a few weeks. fluffyfeet
I have 4 tattoo's - and would like more but can't finance at the mo. First was a chinese dragon - right should blade, then a Pegasus - left should blade, then Merlin's face with a crescent moon and stars - top right arm, and finally Phoenix/Firebird - top left arm. Have to keep them covered at work but I love them. Has anybody had really negative reactions to them - I've had a few, including my dad until he realised I was a bit old to moan at (I'm now 43). Chickvic
My mom hates them with a passion! I have 2 on the top of each arm, 1 on each shoulder and 1 on my foot so I can cover them up if I need to. I'm desperate to get some more done on my back but just can't afford it at the moment. I can't wait to see Becky's - I may be tempted to copy hers! hillfamily
Such a shame Becky that they couldn't do it yesterday but better to be safe than sorry though I'm seriously considering getting one done for my 40th this year :D something little and discreet .......but I'm really scared that it will hurts.......lots Am I right in saying that it depends on where you have it done and that bony areas are more painful than fleshy areas
