LisaP
Been lurking and keeping up to date but not posted for a while. To be honest I've been feeling a bit low (sorry for myself ) and didn't want to pass on my negativity, especially as some people have been having a much worse time than me and my family. I've posted before about the last 18 months being rather tough - redundancy, bereavement, burglary etc etc and you were all so supportive so I'll not bore you with that again I started this year trying to be positive but unfortunately OH still hasn't managed to find a job and since the end of Sept all he's had is 4 weeks contract work and our 18 year old son also lost his job in January and can't find anything else Just to rub salt in the wound we're currently surviving by using money left to us by selling my late mother-in-laws house. She passed away a year ago this week and the proceeds from the sale were split between my OH and his 2 sisters. It really hurts that we are having to use the money in this way. Anyway enough of this self pity, some positives have happened redundant son has decided to go back to 6th form in September to do his A Levels - he'll be attending a different school as the one he was at was appalling, hence why he dropped out. We also used some of MiLs inheritance to acquire 2 more chickens and upgraded to a cube Sadly she never got to meet any of our chickens but she knew about them and was very pleased for us, so I'm sure she would approve Gosh I have gone on haven't I I really only meant to say I'm back and will try to reply and offer support to others where I can Thank You Lisa P
BeckyBoo
Welcome back! It can be SOOOO hard when you get knock after knock, you end up wondering if it will ever stop. But it will, look at it another way, you've been able to survive using money that you didn't have a year ago, so it was there when you needed it. You might have wanted to use it for other stuff but you're all still there and it's as good a use as any when you really need it. Your son is now going to carry on with his education, that's a fantastic positive. It can be SO hard to see that things happen for a reason but even in my dark times I truly believe that they do, even if you can't see it at the time. Well done on your cube, what colour? Any pics? At the end of the day things will get better, hardship makes us appreciate the little things and the good times. Lots and lots of luck to you and your family, that "good thing" is JUST around the corner so hang in there BeckyBoo
LisaP
Thank you Becky. Have to say I really wanted to reply to some of your posts but at the time I didn't think I would be much help. You have my total admiration for what you've been through and coped with and now, a tattoo! (I've replied on that thread ) Lisa
Ain't Nobody Here
Hi Lisa, nice to see you back . Sorry you've had such a rotten time . I really hope things look up soon (getting more chickens and a cube is definitely a step in the right direction ).
Willow
Hi Lisa Welcome back I'd been wondering how you were all doing. Sorry to hear the news is not so good. I can't remember if I already suuggested your husband look at this web site and sign up for the (free) newsletter http://www.asktheheadhunter.com/ It's a little american in style (Sorry to our American friends on here but we're too reserved for some of his suggestions). What the guy who runs the site promotes is a different style of job hunting and interviewing. He also debunks the agencies that expect you to pay for help to get a job and explains why that is a waste of money. I used his approach of going into an interview to tell them how you would do the job rather than answer questions on what you've done in the past and it resulted in me getting my current job against the odds of being in completely the wrong part of the world and them having already identified who they would give the job to but were going through the motions of interviewing. I am reminding myself how to approach things now as I need to find another job (still got one for now but it feels very time-limited). A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Seconding Beckyboo. I'm so glad you can find some positives in a rubbish year. And returning the hugs and good vibes you put on my other post. xx
Seagazer
I was going to say the Beckyboo had made some great points, turning something that sounds negative into a positive. I really hope that things start to get better for you and your family. My OH has been made redundant about 3 times over the years and it is awful. I'm sending you lots of positive vibes. Patricia Thank you Patricia for thinking of us, we're fine if just a bit fed up. OH doesn't remember this website so he's going to give it a go. Problem we've got now and the same as so many others, is that there are more and more jobseekers all the time and now the recruitment agencies are folding up too - pretty much a no win situation Still keeping our fingers crossed though.
