RIP Jade

Her family shouldn't compain about the media circus - all she had was fame for being famous - not for actually doing anything - she used the media well to secure a future for her boys - smartest thing she ever did. They should learn from her and court the media, it won't harm the boys if the funeral is public, their Mum wanted to be loved by the public and again they should be proud.

If there was a flag flying over Lakeside they would have lowered it - she was a typical Essex Girl through and through and proud of it. Her fight has raised money for her family and awareness of a sensitive issue. I'm sure it was hard to read about for anyone going through it - personally I read nothing and heard very little either because I'm not remotely interested in the cult of celebrity and have switched off from it.

It will be wonderful for her boys to be able to look back at all this and know how much she cared for them. All the footage of her talking about them will make sure her message gets through.

Children can get over these awful things - remember two other little boys walking along behind their mothers coffin in a public procession? They have grown into good men (at least I think so but again I don't read the press!)

Yes ditto RIP jade and hope her sons have a happier life than their poor mum. They sadly are surrounded by people who seem to have "messed up" big time. Some of Jades friends seem reasonable people so hopefully there is some hope.

On the subject of smears, many young women get "false positives" smears, go thro millions of tests and can be left with problems when it comes to pregnancy and carrying a baby to term. Anyone with unusual bleeding, post coital bleeding and unusual symptons should not be refused a smear. If a girl under 25 really desparately wanted a smear I would do it but would explain downsides. From what I read Jade ignored recalls due to fear, so hopefully others wont if in similar situation. Poor girl - I really liked her towards the end - her lovely smile and bravery without a wig even on her big day shone thro. I was never a fan but just wanted to give her a hug like you would your child. Sadly I nursed a lot of "Jades" at The Royal Marsden- very very sad. God Bless Jade

Couldn't stand all the hype about her when she was alive prior to her illness but what a terrible tragedy. No child should lose their mother at that age and no mother should have to leave her children behind, it's the thing every mother fears.

Good old girl for hanging on until just into Mothers Day - that's Jade Goody right until the end! I applaud her for exploiting herself at every opportunity for the sake of her children, she attracted a lot of criticism for it but who can say what any of us would do - walk a mile in her shoes before throwing stones I reckon.

I hope her sons have a successful life, by that I mean I hope they can prosper and thrive surrounded by their families love, Jades' mother might have been a rubbish mum but she seems to be a good grandmother (sometimes they get the hang of it in the end!)

As for the rest of them, whatever their addictions or convictions, I hope the boys come first, she seemed to have some good practical financial advice so I hope no one has the chance to exploit her or them now she's gone.

On Mothers Day it's a real reminder to think about what it really means, not just the cards and breakfast in bed, it's being together that really matters.

RIP Jade.

I enjoyed watching her from the start she was certainly a character. She made you cringe and made you laugh. I admire her securing her sons future and hope they grow up with half their mum's guile and heart. They will know they were loved.

It's terribly sad that someone as young as Jade has died leaving two young boys without a mother. The good thing which has come out of it is that it has highlighted the risks of cervical cancer to young women and I hope that many lives are saved as a result. Hopefully the equally sad death last week of the lovely actress Natasha Richardson following a skiing accident will also save lives as her death could have been prevented if she'd been wearing a safety helmet. Another life lost far too soon. Two more young boys left without a mother. Richardson was a far better role model for today's youth than the publicity hungry Goody. Quiet, shy, self-deprecating, talented, part of a long established Hollywood marriage to Liam Neeson and a member of a tremendously talented acting family. A real loss to the acting world.

Sorry Penguin she was actually from Bermondsey originally.

There was a great piece on Radio 4 this morning (womens hour i think) around 10am about Jade and they played an interview they did with her in 2007 and also an author came on and spoke about her take on it all - very interesting and I will see if i can find a link to it.

And here it is http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/womanshour/03/2009_12_mon.shtml

We were in the car when we heard about her death on the radio, it made us all go quiet for a while. It is a horrible thing to happen to 2 young children. I hope that the money that has been made for them is used wisely by responsible trustees and that they are given all of the support and help in life that she wished them to have.

There is no doubt that despite some of her obvious faults she loved her boys very much.

Out of her tragedy has come many positive things. R.I.P Jade

Which is part of what makes her a typical Essex girl! We did a survey in school last week and about 90% of the kids said either them or their parents hailed from London, predominantly East London rather than South though.

In our family the only one who was born in Essex is my Mum - my granny was evacuated to a home for pregnant women in Writtle. The rest of us came from Docklands, some via North London.

I was deeply saddened when i heard. That poor young woman, and so young.

The press makes me sick. They are so hypocritical. It was only a few months ago that they were ripping her to shreads over some apparent racism that was blown totally out of proportion in my opinion, then every oppourtunity they got they were photographing, even when she was asleep and most obviously feeling very poorly in her hospital bed! Bunch of Ghouls, the lot of them.

Rip peace Jade x

Well, I am not sure if it was blown out of proportion myself, but I think she did redeem herself in her conduct after that incident & prior to her diagnosis.

She wasn't a saint was she, she was just Jade, with all the normal faults & insecurities of any of us. I for one will always think of her as a very honest, natural girl who was unapologetically herself, made mistakes & had a huge smile.

Sorry, I thought you thought she was born and bred Essex and not Hertfordshire/london.

I hope the press let her rest in peace now and leave her family and especially her boys alone.

everything about her was so sad, she had a tough life and the way she behaved reflected that , the press have always been the same, tear a person to shreds one minute & sing their praises the next anything that will sell papers :

I cannot stand reality TV, but whatever I felt about her during that time is irelavent because in the end she did what she could to secure a future for her boys, who knows what any of us would have done in her shoes. RIP Jade

... the publicity hungry Goody. ....

I think she was greatly manipulated by those around her. She was a very naive, impressionable and guileless young woman. That was why she was liked and also what got her into strife over the Shilpa Shetty remark. Those other two girls just egged her on, gave her the bullets and sat back while she fired the gun.

Poor Jade, I was never a fan to be honest and cringed when I saw how she was being manipulated, I hope her naivity kept her unaware of just how 'used' she was and I just hope she enjoyed her '15 minutes'.

I think it's all so very sad and I have to say, I admired the way she never came across as sorry for herself throughout her (very public) illness.

You articulated it better than i could Poet. Yes, a very manipulated individual, and someone i never really paid much attention to, but then, i don't think; despite thinking 'East Angular' was wherever?, she was as innocent, and easily manipulated as made out?... I might be wrong. But then like the 'Spice girls' talent doesn't mean any thing when you have someone to manufacture you? I hate reality TV, and to be quite honest, i never watch 'Big Brother' or any of those other vacuous programmes. Load of rubbish by all intelligent accounts, and i begrudge my TV license because of it, although i rarely watch it, ie TV. I just hear from others who in my opinion are sad enough to have time to watch such things. To me, 'Celebrity' means someone to celebrate. People who sit in a house full of cameras (do these people not have job and mortgages to pay?) And X-factor is not better. and emerge as a so called 'celebrity,' for me doesn't ring true. Lauren Bacall hit the nail on the head when interviewed, and echoed the same feelings. As said, i feel very sad about Jade. However, Stephen Fry made me want to reach for the vomit bowl too. To liken her to Princess Diana 'on the wrong side of the tracks'? If someone said that to me i would feel very patronised. And to liken her to what would appear to have been one of the biggest manipulators? Who is he to make such comments with his plummy voice, private school education and privileged life? He obviously lived on the 'right side of the tracks'? whatever that might be? As much as i loathe reality TV i also loathe newpapers. However, some stupid woman in there was beratng people who had put down Jade for not offering nothing? 'And should hang their heads in shame.' ??? Correction Love, the industry you work for should hang their head in shame (ie the media - of which you write for) and therefore includes you. As said a bunch of hypocrites and ghouls. Whatever Jade might have been etc, as said i was nonetheless very saddened as i would have been for anyone in the same situation, but it doesn't exonerate you sick lot to have short memories and of guilt, and pulling out all stops, including every step of someones decline and eventual death, just to sell your gutter press rags. The offer a sixteen page tribute. You sick lot.

There will always be people like Jade in this world because at the end of the day it is the public who made her the "celebrity" - it is the public who buy the books, perfume and magazines - if we didn't buy it she wouldn't have been famous and she would have gone back to her life previous to Big Brother but the great British public, as usual, love to build our "celebrities" up and the bring them crashing down when we've had enough - I read an article the other day and someone commented that they wouldn't be amazed if her illness was all a con and a big publicity stunt and that in weeks to come we would see her make a "miraculous recovery" - how sick and contrived is that?? I'd rather associate with 100 Jade Goody's than the lowlife that made such a callous and sickening remark.

I hope she now has the peace she so richly deserves and that her sons are able to grow up away from the spotlight to be the well educated young men she wanted.

But Jade courted the publicity herself both when she was alive & at the end of her life, didn't she?

She WANTED the press to be there, she asked for them so that she could publicise her situation, her illness & her demise. And good for her for doing that, & good on the press too. If one young womans life is saved because of this, its worth it. My teenagers have already asked when they can start having smear tests. I don't think that they had even heard of them before Jades illness.

I am not saying that the press are blame free, but if anyone knows how to work the press to its best advantage, its Max Clifford, Jades publisist.

Whichever way you look at it,Jades short time of fame & her sad death are very much symbols of how we live today.
