HENthusiastic Posted April 18, 2009 Share Posted April 18, 2009 May chicken peacefully passed away last night . I am very sad. But also very greatful that she went in her sleep. She wasn't right yesterday when I got home from work and we were going to take her to a vet today. She was an Ex-Batt had a wonderful whole year's retirement with us. She was second in command and kind of acted like a bit of a heavy to our top chicken who ruled with simply a glare! She had the most powerful pair of legs Ive seen on a chicken and when she was scratching in the garden, one scratch could send a huge amount of soil and gravel a fair old distance. She grew the most wonderful, healthy looking set of light ginger feathers (and actually looked smarter than our ginger Anita who came from a breeder). It hurts now, but I'm glad we got to know May Chicken. She was a happy girl and lived her retirement to the full. She will be missed greatly by me and OH. R.I.P. I'm having a good sniffle looking at these photos . She was so beautiful, and came such along way under your care. I have lovely memories of her under your kitchen table, and coming running to the patio door when you opened the fridge for a mushroom.
