Chucky Mama
Anyone else out there looking forward to the wonderfully awful Eurovision song contest? My Mother In Law is coming down especially to watch it with us. The year before last she came down and she nearly burst a blood vessel laughing. We actually placed a bet and won quite a lot of money - not betting on the best song but on the outcome of the voting fiasco. Can't wait!! (think our song is pretty awful; she sings it well but poor thing doesn't stand a chance - sticks in your head when you hear it though; was singing it all day yesterday!) Alis girls
Do you think MIL needs to get out more? Do you sit thro the whole 10 hrs or however long it is? I used to watch it as a child but cant hack it now;
fluffyfeet
I have to admit that although it has now turned into a voting fiasco - I do love to watch the efforts of some of the countries - particularly liked the rock thing that won the other year (can't remember the name) with the masks and mahoosive platforms, think they were Scandinavian - gobsmacked when they won Will definitely miss Terry Wogan and his comments though, fingers crossed that Graham Norton is as acid tongued on this as he is allowed to be. And in recognition of it being in Russia, I will be partaking in some vodka consumption - under duress of course!!!!
craftyhunnypie
We watched it last year whilst on holiday in our caravan. We had a Eurovision party, just the 2 of us. We got very tiddly & had paper lantern hung up. Emma.x

ClaireG
If you have sky or freview you can press the red button and get the lyrics on screen. We have done this for the last couple of years, some of the lyrics are hysterical.
Chucky Mama
Oh no, had forgotten there was no Terry this year! Now I am worried that the whole evening could be ruined. I do like the idea of getting the lyrics on the screen, will definately give that a try. (we don't watch 10 hours worth, didn't know it was on for that long - I'm not that sad!) Space Chick
Me too SusanBB!! I LOVE Eurovision! Although I have followed Sir Terry's lead and am never sober by the time it finishes! I also have a pad and paper so I can personally score the songs and write critical comments. My OH is away tomorrow night, so my sister is coming to watch it with me. Tom and Barbara
if you want to be an all out geek, we pull countries out of a hat too and whoever gets the winning country gets a tacky euro prize

Patricia W
We had a Eurovision party last year. Everyone had to dress as the country they drew from a hat, and bring along something to eat from that country, then we scored them as we went along. Can't remember who won as the wine flowed! Chucky Mama
I love it! Maybe importing the Mother In Law (automatically comes with wine) is not enough to be a real Eurovision fan, may have to up the anti next year. Ok then for all you Eurovison fans, we need to think of a collective name.
Ness3103
I love it and am very upset i'm going to miss it i'm at my high school reunion tomorrow night but i'm hoping to watch it on that bbci player thingy on sunday

Ain't Nobody Here
Haven't watched it for years . Can't stand our song though . There doesn't seem to be any structure to the song - can't work out what's a chorus and what's a verse (or am I very old fashioned expecting that in a song ?). It just seems to go on and on repeating itself in that warbly singing I can't stand . Whew, rant over .
Sunshine
I havn't even heard our eurovision entry!
Chickvic
I haven't heard our entry either - makes no difference we never win! We're off round to my MIL's tonight (we play cards) so I may take a drink and have the Eurovision on in the backgground so we can 'enjoy'
Seagazer
We watched the semi-final the other night and it was wonderful just how bad some of the songs are. We liked Iceland's (I think it was Iceland ) song, a ballad song by an 18 year old girl. My OH is upset as we've been invited to a 50th birthday party tonight so will miss the big show! We'll never win again though, but its good for a laugh.
lisa33
I love it!! Got a pile of people coming over tonight. Got my Abba costume. Abba, Bucks Fizz and Terry Wogan posters are on the wall. Bunting around the living room. Mirror Ball by the telly and 'Russian Bucks Fizz' ready to put in the cocktail fountain. Bring it on!!!!
