Michael Jackson

Recommended Posts

It is always sad when someone dies at a young age. Michael Jackson was a talented man and no-one can take that away from him.

I have to admit that I don't get the way that a large portion of his fan base have an almost religious fervour when it comes to their feelings for him. I never really knew how he came to get that - especially as he was clearly an unhappy and possibly disturbed individual.

When I turned on the radio this morning I thought that they were just talking about the fact that his concerts were imminent and it was a complete shock to hear the news.

I agree with Penguinmad that I hope his children manage to get some normality in their lives although - somehow - I doubt it

Nor me, there were people in the US (on the radio this morning) who were in floods of tears. :?

people were in flood of tears when Princess Diana died too, I never could understand that either, yes I was very saddened, but I never knew her so it wouldn't make me cry. :?

Exactly!

I only watched about 5 minutes of her funeral and it was where Harry and William were following behind the coffin. I confess that that made me emotional!

I'm with Jarvis Cocker, on this one. Never liked the Michael Jackson, taking children to bed with him NO, NO, NO...

How come a good looking black man, turned into an ugly white woman. Bet your buns it was drug related. Paul Gambaccini referred to him turning his body into a "medical circus" and that seems to me to be about right......

A talented man and I enjoyed his music, but the emotional outpouring by people that never met the guy is a bit much

My first thought when hubby woke me up at 5.45am (on my day off!) to tell me was for his kids. Hopefully they'll be able to live some kind of normal life now - though they'll probably need a whole load of counselling beforehand....

I loved his music in the 80's but haven't been so interested since really. RIP anyone but i didn't know him so can't get upset just feel its a shame. Same went for Lady Di and more recently jade Goody. but like Penguinmad i know nothing about celebrities, as have no interest in reading about their lives. i have more respect for the stars who live a good, quiet life with their families despite the fame rather than the ones who plaster their often weird lives on us!

I have every album he ever recorded from I want you back to Invincible. I went to see him live in Paris in the 80s. He danced and sang for over 2 hours and I was only about 30 foot away from him, I could see the sweat running down his face... My favourite songs are Maybe tomorrow, Ben and I"ll be there. Think aint no sunshine is rather apt now. So very sad. RIP Micheal

I feel saddened by his death, it's a shame for the world of music. He was a great entertainer, i bet you can't name a Michael Jackson song that you don't like. People who are greiving for him are big fan, many people adored him no matter what his image in the media. He gave a lot to the world of music and that shouldn't be overshadowed by the 'wacko jacko' business.

I think someone should have helped him many years ago, he was clearly deeply scarred by his childhood, or lack of it. We've been listening to his music all day, a fitting way to pay tribute to a man who only felt comfortable on stage.

Ben!!

I agree with you though Helly, I am sad and wasn't a fan, his contribution to music is unquestionably immense, and his songs were brilliant. I do think that without all the "Wacko Jacko" stuff he wouldn't have been so high profile though. I felt sorry for him, and even in death he appears to have been let down and manipulated by those he employed.

The tape of the 911 call has been released and it makes uncomfortable listening. The first emergency services on the scene wanted to pronounce him dead there and then but his doctor wouldn't let them.

I could write a list but I would definately start with that awful wail that was "Earth Song" then follow it up with the incredibly appropriately named "Bad" (Goddamed awful would have been a better description!).

I liked the little black boy better than the wierd white guy. Funny year 10 asked to have some of his tunes on YouTube P5 and we played all the good ones - lovely little black kid bopping around in 70's suits then we made a video of a bunch of kids not actually knowing how to do the Thriller dance.

Actually it's perked my miserable day up no end - lots to talk about, some cracking jokes and it's kept my mind off my own sadness on this day. Trouble is now I'm feeling miserable again and I can't even get into Facebook (account down for maintenance!!)

I'm sorry to go against the tide but I think that Michael Jackson was an over-rated, talentless, one trick pony. When you take away the same, tired, boring old dance moves, the screaming out loud and crotch grabbing (what was that about), you were left with nothing of any substance. He did a lot of very strange things which you and I would get linched for, primarily because we would not be able to buy our way out of the situation.

Some of his Jackson 5 work was good but I haven't liked his music for many years.

Sorry gang.

:!: Wash your mouthout Janty  No seriously, good for you for speaking your mind. I loved what Michael Jackson used to be but I am getting annoyed with all of the people who are now raving about him now that he is dead. They didn't really care either way when he was alive.

Them's fightin' words

Of course, Janty, you've got a right to your opinion, and I would agree that he was certainly weird in his adult life, but I could never agree with you on the 'talentless' bit. The man's singing and dancing skills were amazing. 8)

Its all getting very strange and there are stories floating around about overdoses etc. People have said the worst is yet to come :?

I think its a real shame and loss to the world of music. He really is recognised all over the world - wether liked or not.

I think its been made worse because it was such a shock and so sudden, he's just come back into the public eye after a few years away and was just starting a tour. :(
