Chucky Mama
I found it all a bit too much, sorry. Not emotionally but too much of the schmaltz for me. It's the first time I've actually seen MJ's children, lovely kids they are too and I wish them a normal and happy life. Shame his eldest couldn't get rid of the gum though, same could be said for his grandfather Joe. I hope the media will leave him alone now and let him rest in peace. Yes I noticed the gum too. Not a good look.
PurpleTree
I watched it all, and was in tears by the end (seeing anyone crying especially men or children always sets me off). The first thing I said to hubby though was that the oldest lad didn't stop chewing all the way through.
Chucky Mama
It's getting mixed responses but I found it quite touching. You can see some clips of performances here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8139526.stm
Seagazer
I'll be honest (and duck for cover) and say that I thought it was totally over the top. In fact I think Brooke Shields (who I quite liked in Lipstick Jungle) should get an acting award for her speech and pretend tears - sorry I know that sounds harsh but it just seemed so false. We only watched dribs and drabs - my DD watched it all.
Charlottechicken
I thought the memorial service was pitched just right. I thought it was perfect, very fitting for the global star that Michael Jackson was. I was horrified when they said his coffin would be there, but in the end it made it feel like what it was, a service to a dearly departed loved one. His children must have had a long day though, the little one was fidgeting in his seat the whole time and the older boy looked very detached from it all. I did think his daughter came across very well. She clapped in all the right places during the service and at the end appeared to be the only sibling who knew the words to her daddy's songs. I think it was lovely of her to want to say what she did and I really think we have not heard the last of her. It was noticable that she appered to be very close to Grandma and auntie Janet. I really think the children are better off where they are, they are obviously well cared for and thought of, and are in familiar surroundings with other cousins and family members. I was really disappointed with Mariah Carey though, can't think why she was there, and I think no-one warned her the coffin was on a dais in front of the stage, when she walked forward she looked shocked and immediately looked up into the air. chelsea
The bit where his daughter Paris spoke really choked me.... I thought it was "ok" but awfully dragged out, far too long for his children. I still cant think for the life of me who that woman was at the end singing with long blond hair and dark shades on (singing badly to "we are the world") - she looked like Scarlett Johanssen. Charlottechicken
The blond was Michael Jackson's guitarist, she's on those clips from the last rehersals. There were a few performers who would have been involved in the O2 shows, the signers who came on with Jennifer Hudson, and Shaheen.
cathybc
I didn't watch any of it, but have heard his daughter's speech; I really reminded me that whatever else, he was a much loved father and it is a sad loss for his children.
Alis girls
You know I watched the Thriller video last night - he really was a good looking man in the 1980's - I mean what happened - the rest of the family seem ok apart from some dodgey plastic surgery on Janet and the father is a bit odd. Out of interest who was the girl in the Thriller video - asked OH the font of all knowledge but he didnt know.
