You know your're middleaged when............

Recommended Posts

I realised I was getting old when a fit young bloke started working in our IT section and all I wanted to do was mother him instead of go-out with him!!

Sorry to upset everyone (I know this will make me hugely unpopular) but if the average life span for a woman is 82, middleage is 41!! :( But as someone else said it's all state of mind.

My friend's 7 year old son was showing me a thru'penny bit at the weekend with the date 1967 on it. I happened to say I was 1 year older than the coin and he asked if I remembered the dinosaurs??!!

Oh go for it, lots of younger men like more mature ladies. i mean it may be a fling only but think what it would do for your self esteem. Many relationships like this work so long as the man knows the lady maybe past child bearing age althou the way things are going it may be poss. We have women in mid- late 40's at school getting caught out by pregnancy - personally i was old enough at 39 - I couldnt imagine having babies in my late 40's :anxious:

Incidentally on subject of older ladies - has anyone seen the Salad cream ad (I think) a very attractive grey haired grandmother who looks stunning in tasteful but fashinable clothes a modern haristyle and a naughty look in her eye. I cant see any evidence of her having been under the knife, but she is naturally good looking - good genes. Even OH remarked on her looks and hes not keen on grey hair.

.......or when you've forgotten the question within 2 mins.

I couldn't make sense of the previous post until I scrolled back to remind myself what topic I was reading.

Liked it though, so I can't be middle aged.

"Thruppence" in earlier post reminded me how cross my adult son gets when I say tuppence instead of 2p (or is it 2 pence? :? ), he really cringes (which just encourages me).

Yeah! - but who wants to be average?

Working on Maths, when I look at the ages of when my parents and 3 grandparents died (1 grandad still going well at 87!). The average age of death in my family is 62, so middle age in my family is 31. So I have been middleaged for 4 years

I get told off for that too Sheila, and 'frock' instead of dress, 'wireless' etc.

I felt truly middle aged today when Rosie came back from her secondary school induction to tell me that her form teacher is only 23 and 'half you age Mummy; I told him so too' I can only hope that he thought me remarkably well-preserved when he met me that evening!

My grandad always used to say "I've got a ha'penny with a hole in it, but I'll give you the hole". Now we don't have ha'pennies and I really long to carry on that - it just doesn't work for a penny. I love thruppence and tuppence. Even tuppeny ha'penny ahhhh.

And yes I do revert to proper money - unbelievable how much a Blackjack costs now when you used to get 4 for a ha'penny!
