Help, please - wide-fitting wellies?

Recommended Posts

Anyone know where I can buy wide fitting wellingtons? I always struggle to get them on, I can just about get my current ones on but they are a foot-size bigger than I need, and I can't tuck my trousers into them! It might seem an odd request at this time of year, but I need them for bee-keeping amongst other things.

The only ones I've seen so far are Hunter, which are rather dull and very expensive - just wondered if anyone out there has come across wide-fit wellies which are a bit more jazzy and not £55 a pop.

Well I think I may have answered my own question, as I've found some seriously cute ones on Amazon for a more reasonable price, they come with an adjustable calf buckle ... of course, this presupposes that the maximum width is wide enough, I don't think I'll need to be buckling it in!

At £14.99 I'm willing to risk it, and they come in really funky designs and colours. I am hoping it won't rain in August when I'm camping, but if it does I'll need these.

Might have a look at Crocs though, before I press 'buy'!

I have the solution! I had a welly boot epiphany last year - Muck Boots:

They are the most comfortable hard wearing boots I've ever had and I can't recommend them strongly enough.

You can get them in a variety of 'feet' depending on your requirement, but the genius bit it the neoprene (wet suit material) legs, which comfortably fit over any leg or trouser and is totally waterproof, and cus it's a soft material you get no rubs on your leg from the boot rim, so no long welly socks required. They are WICKED.

I'm not sure the adjustable buckle will help mine have them and I can only just pull them up my leg, no hope of ever getting jeans or trousers tucked in them. Trouble is my kids bought them for me so for now I have to continue struggling into them.

I've been looking at these Tayberrys on line and they seem to come up quite wide, 42-43cms round the top.

Agree Muck boots come in lots of brilliant styles and are really comfy for walking in too..I dont like Hunters(just a fashionista wellie) you can also now get 3/4 calf style which are less restrictive. Most equestrian shops stock lots of syles widths of wellies

good luck indie

oh rats ... I've already ordered through Amazon before I read all the above replies, especially bigmommasally's one about the buckles. I bet they won't fit. :(

If they don't, I'll be returning them and going for muckboots ... I did want something flowery and pretty though!

If there are so many of us out there who can't fit into normal wellies, why aren't larger ones easier to find! :?

You should know better than setting foot outside your house, or buying anything new without first seeking advice from omleteers :shameonu::lol::lol::lol::lol: .

Do you mean the Jileon ones. They are very comfy, and generous on the shoe sizing as well.

Thought I'd chime in that I'm a muckboot girl too! :)

How wide do the muckboots stretch too. They look very comfy having the soft tops, I hate it when wellies cut in  ,but having 50cm calves, would they cut off my circulation?

Well Mostin, your legs are a good deal smaller than mine so you would probably be fine with the long boots but I have the calf length boots which fit perfectly so I don't have the problem of anything fitting right over the calves yet they are still long enough to jump in puddles and do other equally immature things in

Lesley had the same problems until she discovered the Crocs wellies, the only thing is..... they make farty noises when you wear them without socks

Thanks Clare :D - it certainly keeps my grandchildren amused :D:roll:

I love my pink Crocs wellies- and they also amuse the 'experienced' (read as older.... ) beekeepers  - I wear matching pink Marigolds as well :D
