Angels4
Living on the island I've started to notice more and more people have named their cottages...for example "Whalebone", "Buoys and Gulls", "Nevaeh" (Heaven backwards) "Ma's Place", "The Aunt's Cottage". I'm hoping you lot could give me some inspiration on how I could incorporate my love for chickens and the islands in coming up with a name. clootie
Can only suggest some old Scottish words really Mark, Cearc (pronounced kirk) is chicken and Innis is island. I'm not one for playing on words like the "Buoys and Gulls" example in your post but prefer something that has meaning, personal or otherwise. Sorry I'm not very good at this but I know lots who are on this forum!! Good Luck !!
Olly
I'm not very creative, but something I saw on a beach hut once, that I really loved, was 'Multum in parvo', which means 'much in little'.

majorbloodnock
Not a play on words, but the name "Bantam Isle" at least has the right cadence. Going off at a tangent, one of my favourite house names is on a building that's in rather an exposed spot on a hill; they've named it Dambrezi

Egluntyne
I'm not very creative, so have no sugestions beyond the Hencatraz, Peckadilly Station type of thing but am finding myself very confused that majorbloodnock has the same avatar as Angels 4. I thought Mark was talking to himself!

Willow
Not really a useful suggestion but my kids are regularly in hysterics over a house near my parents called 'Moy House' - hint has to be said in an Irish acent

majorbloodnock
Is it a small island? If so, how about "Fish and chicks"? Or "Beakini atoll"? Apologies for the avatar; I'll go see if I can find another (seeing as I'm the new arrival).
Rona
I think Cearc Innis is a great name and can't think of anything better. If you whittle it down to a few favourites, you could do a poll and get us to vote on it.
WarrensWorld
Chicken Island in Italian is Isola del polo, or in Portugeuse Console da Galinha. or in Dutch (my favorite) Kippen eiland,
