TAJ
We are having a big change, having lived at the end of a lovely cul-du-sac happily for many years the house opposite is being sold and they are planning a mega extension and the house next door has also been sold (to a builder). A month before moving in they have already submitted a full planning application and as it is an area of 'permitted development' it seems they will be able to build whatever they want and they want big. We border the Cotswold AONB and have great views over a hill and open common land. Their build will take away our views and instead of my front looking out over a grassed front garden and views up the hill I will look out on to a massive stone extension and a gravelled car park! They haven't even moved in yet and I am finding it all very distressing, but we are at a loss as we cannot do anything and they do not seem to be taking our views onboard - we have even suggested how the plans could be altered to give them the same space with out it having such an impact on us, but we wait to see if that has any impact - personally I do not have high hopes of a compromise. Redwing
Thats a shame - can you get any other neighbours on board and all write letters of objection? sadly you have no right to a view but look to see what else you can object on - lack of light is a good one
Patricia W
I remember that your views are amazing, Taj. I should go down to the planning office and have a detailed look at the plans. Then get as many neighbours as possible to object. Maybe the fact that it is adjacent to an area of natural beauty and the development is out of proportion etc etc. Good luck! Ain't Nobody Here
How annoying and upsetting . I don't know what to suggest, I'm just so sorry to hear about it .
Space Chick
We are going through a big fight at the moment, so I appreciate how upsetting and stressful it is. Are there any trees in the land, as they could have Tree Preservation orders on them, this could help.

Patricia W
Taj If your suggestions for change are reasonable, the planning office may back them. Also get in touch with your local councillor. It's not very good that the new people aren't willing to be flexible. Tricia
SarahJo
Make sure you put everything as a compromise/alternative to their plans down on paper, and outline why you object but also with a possible solution. Plus, ask the planning officer to visit you to see directly from your side the impact. Another thought - you can go on the local councils planning page and see all letters of support/objection/plan outlines etc for FREE. You just need the planning number and/or postcode of the residence address. Look through some other letters on other similar cases - some are absolutely cracking - and may give you a better edge on taking this forward. Also read some of the "decisions" - these will give you an idea on how the council veiw applications and their priorities in terms of privacy/conservation/working times on building etc. Hope this helps -
Valkyrie
I can't offer any advice, but I wish you lots of luck.
Happy chickens!
Me too - good luck. I found out about the no right to view when our neighbours opposite blocked most of ours with an extension too.
abwsco
Good luck. If there are any TPO's I'm not sure how much use they will be. They're certainly not around here anyway as builders just cut them down anyway
chick wiggle
Sorry cant help but above advice all sounds good. Good luck with this, it must be so stressful for you. Will keep my fingers crossed for a fair outcome for you
TAJ
Thanks for the Omlet support - will keep you posted. Yes there is a TPO to the front (with a nest of woodpeckers), but no trees need to be removed to build, so I do not think that would carry any weight. It is a good idead to look at comments on other projects and decisions - I will follow that up. Many thanks, Tracy
Shirl
I hope you manage to get a workable compromise so you don't lose your views.
The Dogmother
Good luck Tracy, what a ghastly thing to happen.
Old Speckled Hen
That's really awful. I worked all my life for the view we now have and I would be devastated if similar happened. I hope it never happens but if the worst happens ,silly thought, could you ever be in a position to build out a similar distance and preserve that view? jlo
I am not surprised that you are distressed about it. Good luck in your dealings with the planning department.
