The 'Hands Up' Thread 2009

No heating on here yet either, and was wandering around Thornes yesterday lunchtime without a coat.

However, I have to find two pekins to cuddle yesterday after cleaning their cube to defrost my fingers at about 6 last night!

The thermostat clicked on the other morning for a few mins so it must have got below 14 degrees in the dining room... apart from that, not yet. We have had blankets on our laps in the evenings though.

But the wood pile is stacked and the fire is laid in the woodburner 'just in case' it gets chilly!

When I changed the bedlinen yesterday I sneaked the winter duvet back on too... OH never feels the cold but I freeze in bed. Mind you the cat keeps joining us and there's nothing warmer than a cat to cuddle!

Nope! I'm dying to light the woodburner, but it's actually still quite warm here (well, today was sunny). I wore a raincoat to work for the first time on Friday, there's a definite autumnal chill in the air.

I am going to hold out as long as I can - I have a garage full of wood, but it all needs sawing up into bite-sized pieces, and that's my winter chicken-supervising job, when there isn't much to do in the garden.

Unfortunately I'm at the age where I often feel I'd like to turn the heating off but can't, if you know what I mean!

It's been funny here on and off all day going from cold to warm and loads of lovely sun.

I'm far too hot now as we had a wagon full of woodchip delivered ie dumped-lol on our drive before and we've been wheelbarrowing it round to the back garden and into the outside part of the chicken area. Flaming wheelbarrow is too big to go through the gate as well so we're having to drop it and then rake it in! I'm cream crackered and there's LOADS still to move.

21 degrees here a while ago - not 27 yet. No heating on here either - and if we do we will have to get the plumber in because it won't switch off! Electric timer seems to have gone AWOL, but the part that controls the water seems to be fine. OH felt cold the other week and I was quite warm so I told him to put some more jumpers on (that's what he has said to me before many times when I complained of the cold). One of the days I put a jumper on, but it didn't last long. Usually I am the first to turn on the heating and he always turns it back off. Now my blubber seems to be working nicely and I feel the warmth too much - I keep throwing the covers off the bed and he scrunches them around him instead.

Perhaps I should get the plumber in before the weather turns.
