Fallen out of love with Roomba

Recommended Posts

...........just a little bit :?

I bought him in March 2008, & in March this year the brushes stopped rotating.

He was under warranty still, so he was sent back, the brush motor assembly was replaced & he was returned to me,working fine again.

They have just stopped rotating again, & this time, because he is no longer under warranty & there is no warranty or guarantee offered with the repair they did (despite what they said at the time), its going to cost me almost £60 to get him fixed.

Oh, & again there is no warranty on THIS new brush motor assembly either, so it could break again in 6 weeks

NOT impressed!!!

Have a look at this

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/theoneshow/consumer/2009/07/03/sale_of_goods_act_letter_downl.html

I don't think it matters that it is past the guarantee period, the goods should work for a reasonable period of time

Hope the link works - not very good at them but look a Dom Littlewood's bit on The One Show site

Well, BLIMEY!!!

I phoned up Lakeland & they said that they have had no end of problems with the 530, & are sending me a brand new, shiney replacement model, which is £100 more, but are not charging me for it :P:P:P:P:P:P

They could not have been more apologetic or nice about it & I am simply thrilled :P

Thanks everyone for your help, especially Chickendoodle whose link I had ready to quote from

I have had mine a couple of weeks now and am very happy with him. I particularly like telling OH that I am busy doing the vacuuming when I am sitting outside with a glass of Pimms (not that this has happened too much lately!)

The only problem is that he does tend to get stuck under one of my living room chairs and under the bookcase and under the dining room table :eh: Apart from that, he is doing all right.

Good to hear that Lakeland were their usual helpful self!

We have a Dyson and it annoys me because it takes three cylinders-worth of dog hair to get a room clean. The cyclone takes up too much room in the upright's cylinder in my opinion. I want a bigger hair-collecting tank.

And those new ball Dyson ads annoy me. A ball goes round corners and legs, sure, but only if the gap between them is wide enough. I want a hoover that magically narrows to get round a dining room table and chairs set's multitudinous legs.

Stick that in your think tank and invent it, Mr Dyson! :D

The cat hair hell that is our house only seems to be kept under control by a super hard core cylinder. We have a lovely vax at the moment, which I bought because it could wash hard floors as well. It SUCKS at washing hard floors, and I much prefer just getting down on my hands and knees with a cloth and some soapy water, but it's a brilliant hoover ;)

Glad to hear you got a good result Cinnamon!

On another note I remember Mum's stories of Dysons when she worked at Comet...Various people came in to say their's had broken...they generally hadn't, the people hadn't bothered to empty them! Her boss used to find a whole load of newspaper and then empty the Dyson in front of the customer!:lol::lol:

My uncle used to go to school with James Dyson, the dyson inventor and was his lawyer for a while!
