Apparently for luggage I would be allowed a couple of pairs of knickers and two t.shirts!

Seagazer
I just can't pack 'lightly' its not in my soul to do that. You should see the size of my toiletry bag! That would take up one saddle bag on its own Hasten to add at this point I've only been around a car park on the back of the bike so I hope he's not holding his breath....... Griffin
We love going on holiday, but I certainly don't love the stress of packing for six people and worrying about the animals. I'm fine once I get there and the cheap booze aids recovery very well indeed We've been to Majorca lots of times, usually one week a year. Because of Mr Griffins job we didn't get the chance to go away this year but are planning to go back to our favourite hotel next June. The kids are so excited already I just need to find a chicken sitter now
Valkyrie
OH wanted to tour the world with a Winnebago (spelling ?) when he retired. As I am rather fond of indoor bathrooms and a decent roof over my head, I told him he could go on his own.
chickencam
I generally enjoy a holiday once I am there but hate all the finding, booking and packing that goes with it. Since we have had the chooks there is the added stress of finding someone to care for them too. I miss my home, garden, cats and hens when I am away. OH likes to get away he is a self employed professional and finds it hard to switch off unless he is away from home. He also can't rest if there are jobs to be done so if we stay at home he just does maintenance etc. We like to holiday in this country and usually book a nice cottage somewhere coastal in April when the allotment and garden aren't too demanding but the weather is usually pretty good. We also go away in october for the same reason. All we do in the summer is day trips and the odd weekend away to visit relatives.
Mutrix Farmers
OH wanted to tour the world with a Winnebago (spelling ?) when he retired. we fancy doing that!! At the moment we are enjoying a weekend away every month in our caravan. I thought I would miss the 2 weeks away somewhere but I haven't. Also boys are such grubs you have to take extras.

I did suggest a side car for my extra luggage - you can imagine the response
Alis girls
Excellent idea, if it rains put luggage on the bike and you stay nice and dry. men - hah they have no idea (but we love em ) When we went away a few yrs ago the taxi driver said to OH at Luton airport (feel a song coming on ) " bet theres one pair of socks in there mate for you the rest is hers" Oh ha ha very funny I thought - I had a 6 and 11 yr old - full of extras for them. as I say men..... yes I'm sure his answer was unprintable
Old Speckled Hen
I did suggest a side car for my extra luggage - you can imagine the response A motorcycle combination was our family's first mode of transport. Us two kids in the sidecar and mum in her leathers and flowing hair (no helmets then ) on pillion.I remember as a small child dad burnt out the clutch on Porlock Hill and we had to camp in a field for two days while the RAC delivered a new one. The summer was long and the air was full of insects and butterflies. Oh the memories of running around in the sunshine. SIGH It was great when we got a car though
Lesley
Oh no!! don't mention Porlock Hill - we took a coach trip which went up Porlock Hill in an ancient coach when I was about 8 and my sister was sick on my feet. She had all new clothes and shoes bought for her but I just got cleaned up We used to take a lot of holidays but since we moved to the farm and acquired a dog we have only been to France once and mostly take short breaks at home now. Carl is happy staying at home but he doesn't really relax unless I manage to get him away from the home office and telephone - I'd chuck his mobile down the loo if I could as well! I still miss holidays - I love wandering around new places and learning about the history.

Valkyrie
Also boys are such grubs you have to take extras. Nochucksyet - you haven't met my daughter. Mud and water magnet her. She was in the sea before we could get her cossie on - or rockpools or puddles - she found them first. But the best one was in Wales where we were having a nice walk along a stream and she found a muddy bit in the path. She fell in (it wasn't big either it was very small) but she sort of skidded right in it. We ended up bathing her in the freezing cold water because it got into every nook and cranny that that girl had. We were also B&Bing, so had no place to clean her up apart from there. I then became a bit of an old washerwoman and rinsed out the clothes, bashing them on the rocks - we dried them off on the back of the car - luckily we had towels to hand. Felonie
We are on holiday right now in Bermuda but its raining ( I am waiting for OH to shower and checking my email before we go out for supper. Been to Norway, my Mum used to live there, it can reach 80 in the summer and she was 250 miles inside the artic circle. 23 hours of daylight can upset your body clock but its grest fun. Oh OH is snoring now........................... Tina
chick wiggle
I love holidays, the whole laying by a pool reading a book, the occasional dip to cool off during the day. Strolling by the sea, choosing restaurants and browsing shops on a night. Its the whole airport nightmare i cant stand No holiday for us this year but we are taking our youngest to London on friday, first time shes been and we're all very excited, back sunday tho, so only a couple nights, can just about cope with that
jlo
We don't tend to go away during the summer as we are lucky enough to have a pool and, when the weather is fine, that is quite fun and we wouldn't want to leave it for very long. We go skiing every other year and try for somewhere a bit warmer on alternative years. This year we are combining the two as we are going away for Christmas and New Year to Dubai where the kids are quite excited about the snowdome! Part of me thinks that this is a complete waste of money that could be much better spent on the house/mortgage/chickens/children (not necessarily in that order!) However, OH works incredibly hard and if he wants a holiday - who am I to deny him!!
BarbaraJ
ohhh i love my holidays especially as i work from home so like to get away from the house. the kids are older so this year we got 3 weekends away with dd to pet sit and a week in corfu in October, can't wait. Quiet reading on the deserted beach, slow sightseeing and eating yummy going away in term time is soooo good!i also like the lack of kids lol
