Janty
Two of my friends are getting married and it's brought it back to me how exciting it is organising a wedding. I got married in red last time with a red cake, red shoes, etc. Next time I would like to go with either purple or black. I was thinking of a four tier purple cake with the tiers offset, a purple eglu on top, bride and groom cochins or brahmas and chickens free ranging all around the top of the tiers. I could have chicken shaped fondant favours.....ooooooo.....excited now. Sorry...just had to share!

Janty
Hubby has just told me to get drawing out what I want and he will order it for me for our 6th wedding anniversary next July. He says as the 6th is traditionally sweets or sugar then he has a reason. He's going to order it from the same person who made our wedding cake, and our first anniversary cake and his 40th cake, etc, etc. We like cakes. He has also suggested having a purple party to celebrate. I'm going to look after him this weekend.

Redwing
you two are as bad as each other A purple party would be fab what a great idea I will have been married ten years next month - I would love to get my marriage blessed in Vegas but it will probably be celebrated with a curry and some sort of ill chook on my lap in the sitting room such is our life now
bluekarin
I would like to get re-married to my hubby in a few years time. Our wedding was on a very tight budget, and not that I want to spend loads of money, but I'd like it to be more of a special day. Plus the day after we got married there was loads of stress from his side of the family so it slightly marred it for me. We are celebrating our 14th anniversary on Wednesday. We were hoping to goout for a nice meal in th evening, but the In Laws are coming over from France for 2 weeks (not with us the whole time, thank god!) and they arrive around 11pm on that day We'll just have to take advantage of them being here and get them to babysit for us one night. Janty
Have a party Tash. They don't have to cost loads. People will bring a bottle, etc. Be bold! Have your favourite colour as the theme. Go for it woman. Sorry...I'm a bit hyper at the moment. Just told M-I-L and she thinks we are mental too. Janty
If I won the lottery I would get married every year with a different theme for each one. Hubby says then every year we could celebrate our first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh.............twentieth........twenty fifth, etc wedding anniversaries all at the same time every year. Redwing
A wedding party each year? ooo crikey that sounds like an awful lot of effort Janty, hopefully you would also have the money to get someone to plan them for you! We have enough of a problem remembering the correct date of our anniversary, we argued once about it and went up to the loft the get one of the napkins we had printed for the wedding to get the date and settle the arguement - neither of us was right

We have enough of a problem remembering the correct date of our anniversary, we argued once about it and went up to the loft the get one of the napkins we had printed for the wedding to get the date and settle the arguement - neither of us was right We would get married on our original anniversary each year so no probs remembering the original date because there would only be one date. Also, I would be a lady of leisure so plenty of time to organise the party. You can but dream.

Space Chick
Fabulous idea Janty, and love the dress too. Our wedding anniversary is Nov 5th (will be 5 years this year), and I tell him if he forgets there will definitely be fireworks
Seagazer
Fantastic idea and I love the dress, very gone with the wind. We decided about 5 years ago that for our 25th anniversary (next year ) we were going to Las Vegas and renewing our vows with family. I've sort of gone off the idea though. Not the renewing but the Vegas bit. Still trying to decided what to do. I'd probably like to get the marriage blessed and then lovely dinner and disco in the evening but I want to do it with evening dress for everyone Your husband sounds like a real romantic
Alis girls
You'd end up with 20 toasters, 10 hostess trolleys and heaps of cutlery Janty if you married every year You'd have to get a mansion to put it all in.
C&T
I struggled with the date at the time of our wedding - I booked the wedding car for 2 months too late!! Boy was I in trouble.... And the hassle to find a replacement as we didn't realise till the last minute!! So date of wedding anniversary is now firmly in my mind... Janty
It will be our 6th anniversary next July. We have been away or just about to go away for the past few so we fancied a party for the next one. That purple dress might be a bit OTT for a home 'do' but when we re-new our vows I will look for something silky and funky. Here's the last wedding in case you haven't seen it. kerryegg
We had a very cheap wedding but really enjoyed ourselves. Reception at flat, friends did the food and brought plenty of bottles.Very few but very funny photos and a lot of great memories of the day. We have just booked a holiday to celebrate our 40th. In Cornwall near Looe. Can't wait as I have never been before and we can take the dog. Marriage, I'm all for it. Just make sure you enjoy your day.
