Body Shop bring back 'Anita Roddick's favourites'

Recommended Posts

When I saw these in Body Shop I was very happy. It's basically a range of old products they discontinued and includes the fabulous Banana shampoo and conditioner, Passion fruit cleanser, fuzzy peach bubbles and the apple ones too.

There are lots more too... See here

It's just a shame they don't have the Seaweed and Peony shampoo and conditioner or the watermelon aftersun, as we used to swear by them!

Oh my goodness, Dewberry - what a blast from the past that it!

Must say that I was never that keen on that particular smell, but as everyone used it when I was a teen,I liked it to be one of the crowd

I also dyed my hair with Shaders & Toners Rich Mahogany, which was another 'must do' in the 80's :roll::lol:

It was huge wasn't it? That and LouLou and Exclamation! and sometimes Anais Anais. Such heady, 80s smells clogging up your nostrils down the disco! I hate Dewberry and White Musk. They remind me of the evil girls with the ugly lip gloss and big hair and catty comments. They were the signature scents of the living hell crew at my school.

(Apologies to nice Omleteers who loved them. :? )

Ahh Shaders and Toners mahogany. That was my prefered colour before I discovered henna.

I didn't like Dewberry; thought it was far too sweet, but I used to wear White Musk all the time. As for Exclamation! I didn't know about it back then, but I discovered it recently and really like it

Did you wear Twilight Teaser lippy from Boots too........... I did :anxious:

I liked White Musk, though not in as many layers as it was possible to wear it, and Anais Anais, what a blast from the past :D

gosh - Dewberry really takes me back - and White Musk! I might have to go in and just have a whiff of them, to imagine myself back in my twenties ... when Next had just opened, Kid Creole & the Coconuts were playing at De Montfort Hall in Leicester, and I was young and anything seemed possible!

I'm not sure I would use any of these now though. I haven't bought Body Shop products for a long time.

It's tricky isn't it? They still have more ethics than practically anyone else on the high street other than Lush. Isn't it better to support something with SOME ethics than say, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Boots and Unilever (do we all use totally eco washing up liquid and the like?)

I guess if you're setting yourself up to have high standards like The Body Shop did, it feels more like a betrayal when you find out that some of those bars are actually set lower, but compared with places with lower standards and no bars, they're still higher overall.

Unless we shop for everything with the most stringent hair-shirt standards imaginable (which I'd really actually like to do in theory, but am too lazy to do in practice - thinking of the amount of bagged salad and plastic wrapped whatever and washing liquid and clothes made from oil-based thread rather than cotton), it seems like they're an easier target than the multinationals we all use who don't have any standards at all.

Its quite pricey though, shame they didnt bring back the pocket money prices :(

I think that's what most annoys me about 'The Body Shop' since it was sold off. Everything is really expensive and you can't buy small bottles of things, which used to make great stocking fillers. Also they don't have their kids range anymore, which was fab. :(
