I'm turning my alpacas into a scarf!!

Recommended Posts

WOW look what I made! I know it isn't perfect, but its my first attempt.

It is an amazing feeling to have made some useable yarn from my very own alpacas and I did every stage myself (except shearing them!)

I did every stage from starting with a big bag of alpaca fleece :D:D

Its taken me ages to get this far, but now I feel I'm able to relax and enjoy doing it :D

I'm going to knit myself a scarf. This particular yarn is made with half Kyros and half Lief. (I shall have to give them extra portions of tea tomorow to say think you).

Thanks guys :D

How did you spin it? On a wheel or a hand spinny thing!

I did it on a spinning wheel. I got it from my inlaws for my birthday present. Besides being able to spin on it, I love the look of it. It looks great in my living room. :)

When were they sheared? was it before or after we saw them?

They were sheared back in May! They have re-grown a lot of fleece, but are a fair way off being fully fleeced. Photobucket seems to be playing up at the moment, but I'll put on pics of them fully fleeced when I can.

:D:D:D

There used to be an alpaca stall at the Royal Show at Stoneleigh, they sold clothing made from alpaca woll and it cost a fortune :? it was sooooo soft though.

I have a cardigan knitted by an old friend of wool from her jacobs, it's very old now, the sheep are no more :( but it is the warmest ever. Same colours as your wool and slubs too :D:D
