HENthusiastic
WOW look what I made! I know it isn't perfect, but its my first attempt. It is an amazing feeling to have made some useable yarn from my very own alpacas and I did every stage myself (except shearing them!) I did every stage from starting with a big bag of alpaca fleece Its taken me ages to get this far, but now I feel I'm able to relax and enjoy doing it I'm going to knit myself a scarf. This particular yarn is made with half Kyros and half Lief. (I shall have to give them extra portions of tea tomorow to say think you). And what do you mean it's not perfect? It looks perfect to me! Rich and warm and handmade. Wow!

HENthusiastic
Thanks guys How did you spin it? On a wheel or a hand spinny thing! I did it on a spinning wheel. I got it from my inlaws for my birthday present. Besides being able to spin on it, I love the look of it. It looks great in my living room. When were they sheared? was it before or after we saw them? They were sheared back in May! They have re-grown a lot of fleece, but are a fair way off being fully fleeced. Photobucket seems to be playing up at the moment, but I'll put on pics of them fully fleeced when I can.

mostin
Well done Hen , I love the two tone colours, it's fab. I agree with Plum too, that slubs just add to the texture and allure of fibres that are so soft .
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Slubs looks great - natural and characterful. Better than coloured plastic shop-bought double knit by a country mile.
Brown Betty
OOOh that is gorgeous, I love that. Did you get much or just that skein. Bet it would sell brilliantly.
The Dogmother
There used to be an alpaca stall at the Royal Show at Stoneleigh, they sold clothing made from alpaca woll and it cost a fortune it was sooooo soft though. I have a cardigan knitted by an old friend of wool from her jacobs, it's very old now, the sheep are no more but it is the warmest ever. Same colours as your wool and slubs too

TAJ
Dis you see the them on Countryfile last weekend? They said their fleece is 50 times stronger than sheeps wall - so it will be a last a lifetime scarf. Tracy
mostin
yes slubs are the lumpy bits along the thread . I imagine you'll get more than a couple of scarfs out of the rest of those bails .
