Sarahsausage
I shall be collecting Hilda and Gwen tomorrow! I can't wait! The only trouble is my collection time is 3.30 so it'll be dark by the time I get them home so won't see them properly till the morning! Bet I don't get much sleep! They're ex-batts so I hope they're not too bare now it's getting colder......
Laura & CTB
All the best for tomorrow Sarah, how exciting
Redwing
How exciting, good luck for tomorrow its not a bad idea to get them in the dark anyway as then they have to come out of the coop in the morning so it makes it easier for them to find the bedroom again and you dont have to faff about with banboo canes and/or torches to help them find home
Sarahsausage
That's true Tasha, at least they can settle down for the night and recover from a strange day

rufusrooster
good luck with them, i suppose it might be different with ex bats but when i got home with my wernlas girls at about 8.30 wed night, was advised to leave them in the box overnight rather than disturb them putting them in the cube, so just left them in the garage overnight, put them in the run just as dawn was breaking, all ok and they found there way into the cube by themselves as soon as it started to get dark,

Sarahsausage
Yes as predicted, not much sleep last night! Kept worrying about the weather and how bare the chickens will, should I have knitted some jumpers for them, I guess I could make 'jumpers' from blankets, etc etc, lots of silly thoughts! Only 6 hours to wait, I'm getting them from Cambridgeshire Hen Rescue Lavenders-Blue as nearer than Norfolk. Excited and worried at the same time! Tutti Frutti
How's your day been? Are they all tucked up?
Sarahsausage
Hilda and Gwen have arrived, bless them, they are so pale and tatty and have warts! Really timid and jumpy, they went straight to bed as it was getting dark. Poor chickens, apparently the farmer treated them really roughly when they were being collected and several ended up with bruised legs and damaged wings, it's so sad, there's just no need for it, why do chickens get such a raw deal?! Least a few thousand will now have happier lives I don't know how to put photos on the forum!
Space Chick
Congratulations on your new girls. With a bit of TLC they will be right in no time
Tutti Frutti
Aww bless them For the photos, upload them to something like flickr or photobucket, then hovver the cursor over the piccie and right click, select "copy image location", come here, click reply, right click and select paste in the URL. Nearly there! Now the highlight the URL and click the "Img" button above where you're typing at the top right. Or there's a stickie with proper instructions somewhere! I'll see if I can find it How are you, are you tired? We found it mentally shattering when we picked our ex-barn girls up - if that's how WE felt, how on earth did the poor chooks get through it??? I'll post some photos of ours larking around today, 3 weeks after collection day Well done Sarah, you've done a brilliant thing and Hilda and Gwen will soon settle in, lucky little girls PS http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=48619
