Anyone else listening?

 

I woke up with Wogan when he first started, a brief hiatus when I lived in London and listened to Capital, now this is his last morning broadcast and I'm listening to it at work, trying not to be sad.

 

Who will blub first - him or me?

I've blubbed already I was on my way home from work when Sarah played her last song of the morning and dedicated it to Terry. I was supposed to be going to bed for a few hours, but I'm sat listening to Tel. I was brought up on Wogan. Blubbing again now

Well, he's gone - but he'll be back in Feb - but not the same. Chris Evans has a hard act to follow.

I am sure to get shot down for this but - hey - it's a free country....I really didn't like listening to Terry Wogan - his voice just wound me up. I did try because people assured me that he was very funny but I just found him patronising. There - I've said it. Please don't all shoot me at once!

 

I will miss Chris Evans' Drivetime show and I am not sure that I will be able to persuade OH to switch from Five Live in the mornings. We shall see.

I listened to the last half hour, quite sad but as old Ken said, he's not dead and he'll be back. It did bring a little tear to my eye though, not helped by his song choices.

 

OH likes Chris' drivetime show, I've not really listened to it. I mainly tune in to Ken and then Jeremy so he might pass me by I suppose.

I am not a huge fan either, but he is a national treasure I can see that and loved by many.

 

His listeners will have a culture shock in January, I think Chris is better suited to the afternoons.

I think so too Liz, I prefer a more mellow and easy morning station. Still, we'll see how it goes.

Does anyone know if the Sunday morning show is replacing Steve Wrights Sunday Love Songs? I hope so, as Steve Wright is one of the most irritating people on the planet.

I used to listen religiously in my 20s, then switched to the Today programme in my 30s. Now I'm only allowed the radio on in the mornings on holiday. There is nothing like the gentle swish of the sea and the flapping of canvas and Terry's whatisheonabout ramblings to lull you awake enough to fire up the primus.

My two favourite programmes are Chris Evans' Drivetime and Radio 4's Today.

 

After this week I'll be listening to Radio 4 at both ends of the day instead because however much I love Chris, I just can't face music in the mornings and I'm not a Simon Mayo fan.

I have to confess to never having been a listener of Wogan, although my Dad was, which shows how long he's been going. It is sad to have an institution end 'though, and I do wish him well.

 

I find the Today programme sends me back to sleep, so no good on the radio alarm! I prefer to listen to new music on the radio, as I have my favourite old music that I can listen to any time. So I tend to listen to Radio 1 (except first thing as I don't particularly like Chris Moyles) or BRMB. Or if there is live sport on, then 5 Live.

As others have said, what a hard act he will be to follow. I like Chris Evans, but I don't think I will get on with him presenting the breakfast show. I don't really like presenters that are loud and excitible first thing in the morning (mainly because I am grumpy and irritable ) but as a drivetime presenter he is great.

 

However I am willing to reserve judgement until I have listened to his show.

I did try because people assured me that he was very funny but I just found him patronising. There - I've said it. Please don't all shoot me at once!

 

I'll be beside you in the firing line . The minute I heard his voice I had to change channels . Nothing against the bloke personally, national institution 'n' all that.

 

Don't like Chris Evans either .

My mums a big fan (she's 80 lol) so i'm sure she listened but i never have since i left home, local radio for me heartbeat , used to be chiltern Radio. I wake up to it in the morning so prefer music to chatter.

Me three! the contant inuendo and 'nearly rude' limericks really annoyed me, he has been milking his departure for three months now first that big speech then three months of referring to it and at the end another big speech, ridiculous! at least its all over now

Sadly they have the best traffc updates so if I am stuck I tune in to see how long I will be stuck for! the traffic lady is lovely though

 

I dont listen to more than 10 mins at a time as I like to arrive at work in a good mood!
