mostin
Just opened my present, yes I know I'm 32 and we have no kids, and it was 6 o'clock . Now sat here sobbing as my OH gave me a picture of two gorgeous looking girls who he says are mine......lol. I am now sobbing my heart out at such a wonderful suprise. My two lovely posh Red Sussex who I was drooling over at the National show have been brought up from kent via chicken express (Redwing ) and passed to Laurmurf at the Fed, and not a peep out of any of them (the omleteers, not the chooks ). You guys are the greatest. . Those of you closest know this year has been a bit rough, and then I was in hospital again a few weeks ago, and now we are going to spend all of xmass and new year visiting our 14 year old our niece in ICU . Put it this way, I thought the odds of me spilling tears of joy on xmas morning were about 100:1, but that is the wonder of chickens isn't it . Laurmurf, and Redwing, you are two crafty ladies , and I am sure that more of you were in on it as well, you know who you are mistress Plum . Now I wouldn't dare write all this without giving you a glimpse of the girls in question so here is the link my dear OH had ready, knowing that I would be desperate to write exactly what I have just done Happy Christmas to you all, and all your families, chooks and other furry creatures Edited December 27, 2009 by Guest

Redwing
I've only logged in to find out about this. Having met them personally, I can honestly say that they are abso-flipping-lutely gorgeous. Dawn thats so understated! You have done more than meet them None too pleased with her two long car journeys in the vomit comet (my car) one of the chickens took one look at Lauries lovely cage in yet another vehicle and said 'erm...no thanks' and jumped ship for a run around the the Fed showground Dawn, Laurie, Lauries girls, a random lovely man on crutches, a lovely lady from another forum (Cuckoomad) and I all went on the chicken hunt armed with the crutches and a blanket Hellymisscloud made an early grab for chook's tail and was thwarted by a stray car which scared the chicken Quite a few minutes went by and we couldnt get anywhere near the chicken... We re-grouped for a close in special but the chicken found the only gap Mr Crutches tried a gallant tackle which only very narrowly missed and the chicken dived under a minibus, Laurie was having kittens about this point and the chicken was having a whale of a time with a couple of hundred acres of Staffordshire countryside at her disposal. Mr Crutches then ruined his trouser knees and put his recovery back a few months by kneeling on the ground to prod at the chicken to make her come out But my goodness we had quite an audience by this point we closed in........ The chicken ran out the back and then back under, she ran out the side and back under then made a break for the front.... she slipped through.....noooooooo! Then! Dawn pulled out her secret weapon.....some bread! Chicken happily noshed on quite a few bits of bread before one of her legs was whipped out from under her from behind in a most surprising silent stealth ninja move from Cuckoomad And so the day was saved and we didnt have to call Shaun and explain how we managed to lose one of his chickens Laurie - we did agree to share that story didn't we? mostin
OMG, I am rolling around and wetting myself laughing here. You guys are the best ever. . I have such a mental picture now, that poor chap on his crutches . Thank you all for your fantastic chicken catching abilities, and Dawn......I owe you some bread . Thank you all for the good wishes for my Niece as well. We were in ICU visiting this morning when the news came that she finally had a paediatric ICU bed in Leeds, after 3 days wait . We stayed until the transfer team arrived, but then we had to leave. Had a very strange xmas dinner at home late on, but we took our minds off things by cleaning out the chooks and getting the spare eglu all ready for the news arrivals . We've already heard that she is stable and even improving slightly over at Leeds, so now, I can try and chill out a bit and think about my visit to Laurie tomorrow. Picking up my new babies, and getting to see Lauries and Ellies Malays. Thank you all sooooooooooooooo much xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Redwing
Hazel, they went from me to Laurie at the Fed show, Laurie took them back to hers where I believe they will be until today They left Kent on the 13th Dec so have had quite a journey Mostin was due to be with Laurie at the Fed but couldnt go this worked in the favopur of the chook train though as another handover would have had to be planned probably involving Shaun and I in some illicit twilight service station meet and some secret texts which wouldnt have looked too good
