craftyhunnypie
This afternoon, hubby & myself have walked along the old railway line, up into the village & to the farm shop. It was a lovely frosty day with the sun shining. Wrapped up warm in our hats & gloves with our cheeks tingling felt wonderful. We had cuppas & lunch at the farm shop & bought our veggies for our soup, then walked back. Nice to see all the dog walkers & families out on their new Xmas bikes. We also noticed a huge hall / palace type house literally 5 minutes from our house. How come we have never noticed it before? Hubby took a photo , so I'll post it up later. Anyone else been out walking on such a nice day? We have just had Mulled wine & are roasting some chestnuts on the fire. Emma.x

SarahJo
Not fair - where was this, how come you did not ask me, OH took the boys to watch Macc Town beat Crewe so I was alone all afternoon Glad you had a nice time - maybe you just stopped to "look" more and the house/palace was not obscured by trees/leaves at this time of year. docsquid
Not today, but on Saturday and Sunday we had a couple of really nice walks. It is a lovely time of year, and gives you a completely different perspective on familiar landscapes. I'm really hoping for a bit of snow so I can take some wintry landscape photos. I was given a lovely tripod for my birthday and haven't really had the time to use it properly, so I'm looking forward to getting out and taking more photos over the next few days. It will be good to take photos that are not of chickens for a change
chelsea
Sounds like the perfect afternoon to me Emma I love this weather and like nothing better than wrapping up and going for a crunchy walk. They forecast it getting colder this weekend so maybe we will have an opportunity!
Blackrocksrock
I had sons dog and went on saturday the usual walk which is about 30 minutes - so a quickie really and it turned into a real trudge crust of ice on the snow and it was a real work out for me - the dog spied deer prints and thankfully he could not go over the ice crust either! craftyhunnypie
Ha ha SarahJo - I didn't know you were a local? You could have willingly joined us & it would have been nice to chit chat. My husband was sooooo nosey all the time, it was hard to have a chitty chat with him as we went along. I'm happy to say the soup is nearly ready for eating, from the veggies we bought. Emma.x
Snowy
We've been visiting and had relatives over for the last couple of days, so I've been chained to the stove on kitchen duties while OH has done the dog walking! He's back at work tomorrow so it's my turn to walk. I love it at this time of year too!
Eggquisite
Anyone else been out walking on such a nice day? We have just had Mulled wine & are roasting some chestnuts on the fire. Emma.x Sounds perfect! We did the same on Christmas Day after lunch, had to walk off all the food Sunday we went over to MIL's in the Cotswolds so of course we had to have another walk Sunday afternoon and today visiting my family on Shropshire, oh yes.. you guessed it, another walk this afternoon... Now back in Oxfordshire & not planning to drive anywhere else for a few days but I'm sure we'll be off for a few more walks over the next few days

chickweed
We also noticed a huge hall / palace type house literally 5 minutes from our house. How come we have never noticed it before? Emma.x You were most likely seeing the back of Abbey Fields, a lovely old country house converted into flats. Access is a discreet car track between houses in Park Lane. It can't be seen from the road. I do this walk quite often too.
dippy bird
Not fair - where was this, how come you did not ask me, OH took the boys to watch Macc Town beat Crewe so I was alone all afternoon Glad you had a nice time - maybe you just stopped to "look" more and the house/palace was not obscured by trees/leaves at this time of year. I am impressed that Macc won!!! We walked on boxing day up to white nancy -the hard way!! Then walked all the way back to macc on the canal path (how we didn't fall in I will never know),then down the middlewood way. It was a lovely day,but incredibly slippy. iar fach goch
Well, YS was feeling a little better today but still haven't managed to get out, howling wind and rain all day. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
The Dogmother
Rosie and I take a long walk every day with the hound, yesterday we walked up Crouch Hill - a lovely walk on the outskirts of Banbury, less than a mile from the house, big fields for Ruby to race around in and great views from the trig point at the top. Off the other side of the hill, you can meet up with the Salt Way (ancient trade route) and walk miles in both directions. There are so many lovely walks on our doorstep. craftyhunnypie
We are going again tomorrow, but going further & having a stop at the lock 57 (where my knitting club is), for a drink & bite to eat. Hope it doesn't snow too much overnight! As much as I love snow, I don't want to fall over. I'm enjoying all this walking! Emma.x
