chickenopolis
We had about 5 inches of snow last night and we dug out the ladies this morning - they were not happy and were very vocal at 8 this morning. When the door went back it was "WHAT ON EARTH IS THAT WHITE STUFF? I'M NOT COMING OUT" After tempting them out with some mealworms, they are now in the run...not impressed. How has everyone else found it this morning (apologies to those who have had snow earlier).?
CluckyBucks
I had to do the exact same, my girls were confused and didnt like the snow, so sqwawked at it until i provided mealworms to take thier minds off it xx xx
Laura & CTB
Mine refuse to come out of the run when it snows unless I dig them a footpath but it has snowed so much overnight that I'm not even going to try, I think it's too dangerous to let them out of the run today in any case. They will have to be placated with grapes and a half a swede.
Toots
Forna was happy to come out as there was food on offer... Jo came out just because she wanted to know what Forna was doing, the other 2 are moulting so they have food and water in the eglu.. managed to stop the wife giving them a hot water bottle! peepie
we have a winter and summer shade on our run and extension so the ground in the run is clear but they won't come out. How do you get a photo into this thing anyway???
Slim
we had 6" and it is still coming down it is pure comedy to watch!
chickenopolis
I've put 2 hot water bottles in the poo trays this morning to "warm up" the cube - but it doesn't really need it - it's just to make me feel better that they have some access to heat. A couple of hours on, and ours are still not impressed, going to give them some sweetcorn, grapes and a couple of cabbage leaves to keep them amused this afternoon (after I have changed the water bottles again and made them hot), and put more hot water in the glug, and flufffed up the hay in the nest box. Patricia W
Mine now have room service. I've put food and water in the cube as there is NO way they are coming out today, thank you very much!! At least there is room to do that in the cube. Tricia
emchook
We have about 4 .5 inches now in East Surrey . Is only started last night !!! Is has been snowing steadily again since lunchtime My chooks are fine with the snow .. if a little hesitant at first .. but the chance to get out in the open was too much temptation for them ! I decided that since I could brave the snow with the kids making a snowman then the chooks could have a stretch of legs too and have a bit of supervised FR. I am just so paranoid about foxes at the moment !!!
coco
Mine refuse to come out of the run and stood by the door looking horrified yesterday, I'm sure they think its all my fault.
brambles
mine eventually came out, although the baybees took a long time to commit to it. They are all so funny and look like they're wearing white mc hammer pants. Can't touch that!
chickenopolis
Lots more hay put in the nest box, half a dozen grapes before bedtime and 2 full hot water bottles put in the poo trays. Girls are now snuggled down for the night, next to each other making chirping noises to each other. Fingers crossed they are all OK tonight and will be vocal and demanding tomorrow morning. Hope all your girls have a settled and warm night. Sarah x
grracee
We had snow yesterday morning and alot more today. My chooks aren't overly keen but they still love to come out of the house, no way will anything keep them inside! Normally it's my 2 buff orps that come out first then the others follow. Have to say tho within a few mins of being out they shelter under the garden table as there is no snow there haha. I have been giving them warm treats in the recent cold weather so i gave them some spaghetti this morning and let them in the shed which they seemed to like, as once they are out of the chicken house they won't go back in till bedtime, even if its pouring down, so they decide to shelter else where!
