"Ooops, word censored!"ody told me chicken keeping was addictive  ....

For my 40th Birthday last October OH gave in and bought me a secondhand eglu with run and we bought 3 chickens, after a rough start we lost 2 and had to purchase 2 more.

After reading loads on the forum OH cut into our lawn and decided to board the length of garden and cover with easibed to make life easier

Eglu last week!

After raking run on hands and knees and moaning OH said it won't take up any more room and he would design a WIR that fills the space we already have, he has become quite fond of the chickens which helps, so after a few weeks drawing plans, reading and looking at pics on here and changing our minds about were to put doors, holes, eglu in or out the building has begun.......

Sad I know taking a pic of a pile of wood but i've noticed on here i'm not the only sad 1!!!

Today we have put the complicated end together {in the garage} to make sure all pieces fit but also we needed the eglu in place to cut an arch to fit snuggly around it.

Can you tell what it is yet? Work will continue this week I will keep you posted :D .

Yes, yes...all very interesting BUT.............How clean and tidy is your garage?

Man, I'd LOVE a big, useful, orderly garage like that! Ours looks like Steptoe & Son

Run looks good and I can tell you, a WIR does make the whole chicken keeping experience far nicer, in my opinion

....I've got to get out more!>

Ours too! I also have garage envy....even the washing machine repair man sniggered at the state of our garage when he came...:anxious:

Nice WIR by the way - very sturdy and well made. :D

Well i've just spent the past 2 hrs since coming home from work painting bits of wood i'm bored of that now 3 coats on everything. Also helping to hammer staples into the wood to hold on the mesh my hands are killing me but I must show willing as I want WIR in place this weekend if its not raining or snowing....!!

As the run is bigger hubby said there would be more room for the 3 girls to run around, my thoughts were more chickens!! I tested the water and mentioned just a couple more  the trouble is hubby has decided on what he would like, I don't think this is fair as last October he wasn't interested!! It shows they wriggle their way into your hearts!!

As for the tidy garage when we had it built we got the walls plastered and hubby insisted on painting the walls and the floor when I mentioned curtains he said now that was going too far  I have managed to keep a bale of straw in there as long as its tidy!

I'm hoping for good chicken weather this weekend to get new WIR in place even if it won't be completely finished they will have to manage for a week or so without a covered roof.

Have finished the boring bits painting and putting wire on all the panels tonight so we are getting there! :D

more pics at weekend......

I had to put them to bed not only had they lost their eglu but we haven't made a ladder yet!

Up early tomorrow and off to BnQ I think to get so odd bits and a roof!
