The Weather Thread # 5

Recommended Posts

Have just come back from my walk - it is quite chilly in the shade but in a sunny sheltered spot it is lovely. Overdid it a bit and had a rest on a bench in a park under a tree to cool down, but it got a bit too cool, so walked across the other side and just admired the view. Blue sky above, white fluffy clouds on the horizon, buzzards on the thermals - just a really lovely day.

Really cold here today. For the first time the girl's water was frozen when I went in to check on them this morning. I felt awful as they had been out for about 3hrs by then and probably couldn't drink anything :?

Good job I wrapped up the outside water tap yesterday as it was below zero first thing. Now I need to work out how to still use the outside tap for filling up the glugs but still keep the tap from freezing. Don't like the idea of having to unwrap it every day

I've put an extra few inches of rapport in the nest in the Cube as about 5 or 6 of our girls huddle up together in there with the other 2 huddled up to them but still on the perches. We don't have the divider in the Cube so it's easy for them to all cram in the nest. I'm wondering about getting one of those things you heat up in the microwave in this weather, or maybe I am just overeating to this weather

My fruit trees are a little confused due to the mild weather, They have buds on them! :anxious:

Same here... the honeysuckle has buds on it for the third time this year, the hazel tree has catkins, Tamarisk tree is in bloom and my feverfew plants are flowering again - they are in for an almighty shock when we get the inevitable cold snap.

We are off to the Bodicote fireworks tomorrow evening - traditionally it is very cold indeed when we go to see them!
