What awful news Lewis, I can understand why you don't like keeping your hens in a run all the time. I'm the same, ours go out to Free range everyday and we've been ok, (touch wood) up until now, but it's one of the risks you take...

I've thought about setting them up a nice big run for them, but then Molly would have to change her garden laying spot!

I hope you get her some new friends soon, she sounds a bit like she's in shock poor thing and could do with a friend.

lwescott - Im so sorry for your loss!!

I lost all my ducks to ye old fox! it was horrible, more so as we caught him in the act and saw the devastation left behind and all the clearing up after it.. I had to get hubby to let my hes out and put them away as I just couldnt face it for about a week... I had so many ppl take the mickey, joking around about the ducks even my mum made jokes, which caused me to tell her that she was an insensitive ***

some ppl just don't get it......

the only reason my hes were ok was prob because one we caught the fox in the act and two they were all roosted away.

either way its a horrid thing to happen... we are now rebuilding my wir, we have torn the old one down completely and starting again, using galvanized steel.

it would be good for your remaining hen to have a friend, not sensitive at all.

All hugs received - thanks

I tidied up the garden yesterday and washed out the feeders etc ... the old WIR is all horrible and muddy so I'm just leaving that - will be ripping it down and covering it with grass soon anyway :)

Nugget seems ok, just a bit lost! Will give her a bath in a minute and keep her inside for a few hours :)

Thanks for the offer Tom, I'm hopefully sorted with Tasha :) After I fell in love with Jantys ... a black silkie :P
