Bri-nylon sheets and nylon nighties- they used to combine to make a primitive Velcro and leave you trapped in bed for hours maybe that was the plan

 

They made the hairs on your arms stand on end and sparks flew when you threw the covers back. Happy days.

I had pink striped brushed nylon sheets for most of my teenage years, and nylon nighties. I still shudder to remember the crackling. Give me a smooth freshly laundered cotton sheet anyday.

As a child of the 60's I used to share a double bed with my sister when we were little, complete with brushed nylon sheets and pyjamas.

 

One of us would hold up the covers 'a la tent stylee' and we would compete to see who could create the most sparks - before collapsing in fits of giggles and being told to go to sleep.

Oh i remember brentford nylons - they resulted in many a sticky night for me as a child due to sweaty legs - mum swore by them i swore at them. Horrid things

@ swear at them! I think the reason for it was that they were harder wearing - mum used to patch cotton sheets so many times whereas the nylon could last forever - ugh!

MIL used nylon sheets with the night storage heaters. You'd wake up in the morning strangled and migrained!.....

I had purple ones when we got married in 1972 - they were all the rage! and a nylon bedspread for a pressy in bright orange!!

OMG Brentford Nylons......it was an amazing place!!!!! nylon everything everything!!!

I have vivid memories of staying with my auntie who used nylon sheets, I would always get sunburnt (we used oils to get browner quicker in those days rather than protection ) and spent many a sleepless night in agony with sunburn and sticking to the sheets,

And brushed nylon nighties in pastel shades with bits of ribbon - if worn now would be a real passion killer. I used to creak with static - wonder I didnt self combust

Sadly it is now deader than those fashions

 

The Terylene plant has just started back up though. So I can still have me a Terylene Cravatte
