theherd123
Today i plunged myself into the world that is knitting! 1 pair of bamboo needles, 2 balls of organic cotton double knit and a brilliant childrens book and im off! I bought the Usborne 'How to Knit' book for children and its brilliant! Great images and wonderful step by step guides that are really easy to follow. You will see me in the Guinness Book of World Records for knitting in no time!
McChook
You'll have endless fun and probably won't be able to stop! It's a great feeling when someone compliments me on a sweater I'm wearing and I get to say 'oh, it's just something I made'

Cooks
I am still partway through a scarf I started ages ago... made the mistake of getting that eyelassh wool and it does my head in, scarfs are my limit, although I did make my late yorkie a coat (with help from my mum) she used to look well embarassed in it though.. Good Luck Emma, make sure to post lots of progress photos
Lizzie50
I used to love knitting but I cannot even remember how to cast on now!
docsquid
You'll love it - I am a restless and perpetual knitter, and have been knitting since I was tiny. It is brilliant as you can just do it whenever you are sitting down.
theherd123
I am starting with something simple! A scarf with pom poms on the ends for my daughter - which will be very small as she is only a toddler! If it works out ok all her toddler friends will be getting them for Christmas! craftyhunnypie
Ooo your next projects could be bags, hats & cushions. I knit allsorts. Nearly finished a pink shimmery shrug & then I'm doing a cotton short sleeved cardi for over summer tops. Love love love knitting & crochet. You can get some nice cheap wools from Instore & Poundstretchers that are self patterning fairisle effect, with patterns for little girls boleros & hat. They also do sparkly wool. You will be making Isabelle lots of lovely things - hows about some nice simple toys too? Well done for learning! Emma.x

Mrs Webmuppet
I love knitting ( have been knitting for years) I am currently knitting an Icelandic style jumper for my Mum ( her Christmas pressie) on circular needles. Once you get the hang of it there's loads of beautiful yarns and simple patterns out there. QD is a good place for cheap wool, last time I was in there they had 500g dk wool for £3 something and giant balls of aran wool but I can't recall how much they were. But be warned knitting becomes addictive................I have to be restrained from putting my knitting in the suitcase when we go on holiday and Mr W has to listen to me moan about how much knitting I could have got done whilst hanging around the airport!
