Why oh why does it not seem to make any difference how many pens and pencils I buy for my home office, but they all seem to disappear? There must be a massive stash of them in my children's bedrooms. Not that I'd even consider going to look for them in those pits *shudder*.

 

I have just resorted to writing a note with a blue barbie crayon. Odd that the really naff ones don't also get snaffled...Better go off to the stationers again *sigh*.

I just bought a really neat little Sharpie on a key ring, so that no one can pinch it (well, not without pinching my keys too )

and why if nearly all forms have to filled in in black ink, can i only ever find a blue pen?

Hmmm...you mean the ones where the rings are on the little pop-off tops? I can see a couple of the little blighters from here...minus the pens. What I need is ones that have electronic tags, and detectors on my office door. Or perhaps ones that self destruct when they leave the office? Hmmm...maybe social services wouldn't approve of that one

It is a puzzle how they can completely disappear and the only thing that you can find is a crayon or a competely blunt coloured pencil I bought a big pink fluffly pen that would be really obvious if anyone pinched it....where is it????

I have this problem at work and have resorted to using a green pen as it's the only one that doens't get nicked from my desk!

Up to last March, I worked a couple of mornings a week at a local gym. The pens were forever disappearing from the gym as clients used to fill in their record cards and then leave, taking the pen with them. The management were reluctant to provide sufficient replacement pens, so I ended up taking loads of pens in from home, all of which disappeared. Somebody, somewhere, has a lot of pens!

I am forever putting several sharpened pencils into the pot on top of my fridge, but when I need one guess what nothing but a broken brown colouring pencil

 

We have the same problem with tape measures, we have loads of them, but they are all elsewhere when we wnat to measure somthing.

Aaargh, I'd forgotten about those. I have a pile of around 30 odd socks in my bedroom which I've accumulated in the vain hope I'll find the other one. Not only do I have the children to blame, but I also have a sock eating dog too. I've seen the remnants

Yup. It's me. I often go to conferences, hotels, large organisations where there are free pens and pencis, and unintentionally end up slipping them into my bag. I must have about 20 at last count, and four in my bag, wish I could break the habit. The pencils are always HB, and not the 2B I need to write on sheet music with, though!

I am not working at my normal desk at the moment (computer death) and have just popped back to my desk to collect some paperwork and my normally well stocked desk tidy looks VERY light on contents.....somebody has even removed my chicken pencil topper and stolen the pencil!!!

Can you imagine what it would be like if everything that we lost all turned up at once?? I think I would need a skip to hold it all! My losses are pens, hair bands, socks etc where does it all go?????????

I agree, when I need a pair of scissors, sticky tape, or a hole punch, the first place to look is not where they belong, but in YD's or DS's room

I signed for a parcel a couple of days ago and accidentally kept the pen. Two hours later the post lady knocked on my door and barked "YOU STOLE MY PEN. GIVE IT BACK". Next day I had to sign again (I keep buying chicken related things), and apparently hesitated with the pen. She snatched it and said " MINE!"

Debbie, what you need is one of those pens on a chain like you find in the bank. Preferably welded down so tightly that it could only ever be removed with a powerful blowtorch

One of the gerbils just escaped from its cage + somehoe ended up down the sofa

... all the pennies, hair bobbles (no-one uses bobbles in this house?), pens and a fork ... they're here

 

I have a load of keyring sharpies which used to live on a lanyard, but someone would just borrow the whole thing, so they're scattered everywhere now

... also bought a retractable clicky sharpie which no-one else is allowed to use
