majorbloodnock
As long as I don't have to be Christopher Biggins. I now have a vision in my head of Major Bloodknock in stockings and suspenders with a feather boa. I am trying hard to rid myself of this vision. Having seen the stage production on several occasions, I can only say things could have been - and have been - worse than your unenviable mental image. All I can say in my defence is that I was in my early twenties at the time (before my radial growth spurt), and I never wore a boa.

The Dogmother
A whole gang of us used to go, many years ago, I think I went 8 or 10 times in all. The fun never wears off. Travelling there on the London Underground, whilst dressed up was half the fun
PurpleTree
Hubby bought us almost front row seats for one of our wedding anniversaries, a very sensible looking lady who was on her own, sat next to us. She had a long coat on and when she took it off, all she had on was a basque and stockings and suspenders. Some of the men in the audience were a real sight too When I was in 6th form a group of us went, all dressed up, we then went into town for a drink. My friend, Michael, was asked to leave the pub because he had full make up on He had changed out of his dress into jeans and t shirt, and his make up was probably done better than the rest of us. Really spoilt our night, meanie bar staff

Sheilaz
I now have a vision in my head of Major Bloodknock in stockings and suspenders with a feather boa. ..... and I never wore a boa. Really enjoyed it when we went ages ago but hadn't realised about the dressing up. I've never felt so overdressed in my life, but it was a great evening. What a great topic you started Scwamble! I won't get that tune out of my head all day now. ****gets ready to join in with Claret & Lesley***** Sorry, back to the clock thing..... Seagazer
We went and saw it about 15 years ago and didn't realise that the audience dressed up too! We felt quite out of place, but it was hilarious.

The Dogmother
I remember a great party at a friend's flat some 20-odd years ago, we all ended up doing the time warp in a line down the hallway of the flats... wasn't too popular at 2am
Valkyrie
Don't wear a watch since mine broke years ago. I haven't missed it, but seem to be able to judge time fairly well. I curse the day they stopped Concorde though - 7 o'clock and if I was still in the garden that meant something quick for dinner!
The Dogmother
I used to set my inner clock by it when I lived in London - 2pm every day.
Laura & CTB
I've not had my watch for the past 4 weeks and even though I'm surrounded by clocks at work I still miss it Guess it's something I've just got used to - mind you at £160 for a service I could be persuaded to give it up
C&T
HOW much? Haven't worn a watch in years (even before I had a mobile) but when I did, I thought £40 was a lot for a watch! Guessing yours cost just a little bit more than that...
Laura & CTB
Had to send it to Cartier -all I wanted was a new battery but now they're holding it hostage until I pay for a full service

Sheilaz
Had to send it to Cartier -all I wanted was a new battery but now they're holding it hostage until I pay for a full service Same here but with Ebel, given to me as special present by LSH. Beautiful & accurate, but jewellers won't touch it to replace battery because it is difficult to do & Ebel refuse to supply replacement parts if needed, so held to ransom by having to use approved stockist. Was OK paying £20 against usual £5 when it was new, but now they have it in their hands in London where I thought it might be £40 ("we'll need to let you know the quote, it's an old model", sniff, old, my foot, I'm furious) quoting me hundreds!! So, I'll need to collect my perfectly good watch which won't work, & I spent £5 on a perfectly OK watch in a charity shop & I can change the battery myself for a fiver when necessary. Seagazer
To get my battery and watch strap replaced last year it cost us about £130 and had to be sent off. Hubby has an expensive watch that always has to be sent off for batteries, straps etc. They don't tell you about that when you buy them My mum's eyes went when I told her how much. The Dogmother
Luckily, we have a 'battery man' who has a small stall in the high street - he replaces batteries for a few quid and I have never had a problem. But then I don't have a watch worth thousands, just a utilitarian Kahuna one.
