Mrs Frugal
Jenny didn't want to play . Far too interested in the grass! I'll try the other two later on though.
Cinnamon
Sounds like fun! My pathetic dial up connection is much too slow to see it though, but I did see my vet put Lily into a trance once when he had to work on her foot It was great - she is a flighty girl & she was just perfectly well behaved for once
SarahJo
Sarah .... all you do is get a piece of chalk, show it to the hen, and then make sure they are watching while you draw a line on the ground in front of them. Some get mesmerised by the line for some reason, and then just stare at it, totally still till you click your fingers. . Maybe Kate can post up the gist of it from the other site . Mrs Frugal
Here you go, SarahJo. Do you think it's possible to hypnotise a chicken with a single piece of chalk? Well, it is! It's so simple. First of all, you simply show the chalk to the chicken. Then lower the chalk to the floor and draw a line away from the chicken's beak. The chicken will concentrate on the line. Once the hand has been taken away, the chicken continues to concentrate really hard - and it just freezes! Clicking a finger brings the chicken round. Weird! Lesley
- Just off to find the chalk....... do you think it might work on dogs?
Snowy
Didn't work on mine. Maybe they need to be on their own. I showed them the chalk and all 4 pounced on it and tried to eat it!

SarahJo
.... Thanks Kate for posting the pics etc. When I saw it on telly, they had 2 sussex stars .. one just moved away, and the other was totally still and "hypnotised" by the line. Have not tried it myself yet, as we had the grass treated on friday .... but will do it next weekend, I reckon Mrs Snowy will do it . Egluntyne
Will it work on husbands?
Cate in NZ
Oh, I must try that on mine. Phil'd be the perfect candidate, she's so stupid that she's bound to fall for it Great for when they next need covering in louse powder............ a hypnotised hen surely won't struggle as if you're trying to murder it in the way that they normally do
kannie
I haven't tried this (yet) but have found that blow-drying the chooks fluffy bottoms with a fan heater puts them in a trance! Have had to do this with both of them at different times, and even the spirited Matilda just stood still and let me cuddle her as much as I liked! Not sure it'd be good combined with louse powder though...
Nicola H
I tried it this afternoon and Bunty was the only one that fell for it but it all happened too quick to get a photograph she was only in a trance for a few seconds, but she was staring at the chalk line.................. Very strange..
Laura & CTB
Gosh I've never heard of this before - will be trying it asap (hmmm- decking covered in aubiose, plants covered in plastic bags, concrete covered in white chalk lines - how attractive my garden's becoming)
Laura & CTB
Just thought about getting some chalk today so eagerly went home to hypnotise the girls. They watched me with keen interest as I drew a straight line on the concrete then promptly bit the end off the chalk and ran off with it I spent the next few minutes chasing them to grab it back again - my son had been watching all this from his bedroom window - I found him on the floor in tears of laughter
