craftyhunnypie
Help! It's my nephews first birthday very soon & I'm stuck what to buy him. Want to spend about £40- £50 - with it being his 1st birthday. Mum has said she'd like toys for him. I need help here as I don't want to buy anything rubbish. I've been looking at mega bloks & ride on car thingys & a push along puppy walker thing. My head is spinning. Can someone with experience - please reccomend some brill toys for 1 year old boys? Thanks, Emma.x
Chucky Mama
The Little Tykes Cosy Coupe is alway a hit if he doesn't already have one. They also do a police car now

Guest
how about putting the money into a savings account for him?
BarbaraJ
Well probably not expensive enough but a wooden train with carriages with each letter of their name on a carriage was very appreciated when i bought one. http://www.nametrains.co.uk/ these are very popular kids love them different animals available http://littlefishtoys.co.uk/Push-&-Ride-Toys-Sit-&-Ride/c15_79/p626/Wheelybug-bee-%28small%29/product_info.html?osCsid=a967823077759c1b96580d662a0b3652

craftyhunnypie
Ooo love those wheelie bugs. I prefer to buy something, rather than put into a savings account. He'll be a rich lad anyway - with all us to spoil him! Emma.x

Guest
I love wooden toys, and they're more environmentally friendly! We bought our niece one of those push along carts with wooden blocks in with letters and numbers on when she was 1.

coco
I've got three boys and they all used to love sit and ride toys. Little tykes used to make a yellow sit n ride car that has a back on it so they didn't fall off backwards. it was smaller than the cosy coupe. PurpleTree
my 2 both love their sit on cars, both started out as cars with harness and a handle for a parent or someone to push them along in, then as they get older you take the harness and handle off to just leave the car. We've got one in the garden and one in the house now, and I'd say they are used daily. I think Danny's sat on a rocker when we first had it, think it was from Mothercare. They both love their Little Tykes Cozy Coupe car too.

We had one of those It was the most popular toy that we had for our children pretty much. How could I have forgotten it. It is great as they push, then sit and ride and another child can push them too. The big kids in our road used to race around pushing the little ones. Great fun, thanks for reminding me as I will get one for my Godson's birthday
patsylabrador
What about something like this? My daughter works at a very busy London tourist attraction and she was talking about these baby reins that are quite popular. She was telling me that the children are very proud of their rucksacks and of course the parents are more relaxed because their children are safe in big crowds. I think it looks lovely. I remembered your post. They're on amazon and are baby reins with a monkey rucksack. I did post a link but realised I might be giving away all sorts of personal information about my account! Think I'm going to look at activity tables & then I can get a wheeliebug for Xmas for him - when he will be more able to whizz round on one! Off to look at toys r us website! All done - an activity table with lights & sound etc & a Thomas the tank engine that blows bubbles - my nephew looooves bubbles! Got hold of a 2nd hand pushalong mower & little tikes car ride on thingy from a friend too. Emma.x Edited July 25, 2010 by Guest
Janepie33
Brio! It lasts forever and you can keep on adding to it year after year. My 2 had some (a girl and a boy) and the track used to run all over the house. You can also get battery operated carriages and themes such as Thomas the Tank Engine. It's in the loft for grandchildren now!
craftyhunnypie
I like that brio stuff - that's going to be in his Xmas box along with a wheelie bug I think. Thanks everyone. Emma.x
kitchens
A Brio wooden railway. Lasts forever! You can also buy cheaper versions so when you need to add to it ... it needent cost too much money.
chickencam
All 3 of ours loved their Brio, unfortunately we sold it otherwise we could have passed it onto our 14 month old nephew. Our DS loved his sandpit, it was his escape from the world place, he used it until he was about 8 years old. We have just had our nephew to stay and the best thing he had to play with was a wooden precussion set that YD no longer wanted, he loved the shakers, and he loves drums. It's a lovely age, they are so cute, but I forgotten how relentless the chasing around can be. We were shattered by the time they left.
