Bit late on this, we are away but came back for results.

ED got 9 A*s and 2 A's, she got A* in design which is amazing considering there was a 12 mark chunk of the paper which they hadn't been taught, she was really upset after the exam, but I know that she is her own worst critic, so I was hopeful even if she wasn't!

DS took Geology and got an A, he is 14(just finished yr9) and did it in his own time, 3 lunchtimes per week for the year. They didn't finish the syllabus either. We are so proud of him  He was in shock and so happy he cried.

We are really happy and proud of our children, one of those days when it is really good to be a parent :D

ES has just come back from spending the evening with friends. One friend got paid £100 per A  (he got 3). Does anyone else 'reward' their children with cash for good results? We went out for a curry to celebrate and I have bought a kg of Jelly Belly Jelly Beans as a treat. Would have cost us £1100 if we had paid £100 per A.

I didn't get that much!

... but did get something for my GCSE's. Parentals wanted to buy me something but didn't want/need anything.

I know some people that do get similar amounts to that though - think one friends parents are planning to buy her a scooter/moped!

I think one thing that bothers me about this is that some children are not capable of getting A*s and A's. I wonder if parents who have children capable of getting a C through hard work offer cash rewards for C's? Or if within a family of mixed ability children would I get cash for an A and another for a C? I am not a fan of giving cash for exam results. Mine usually get food rewards for trying their best. Yay, Jelly Beans

my son got £30 for his one A this year. I would give £20 for a B and £10 for a C - below that I know that havent put any effort in  My daughter also got some for her AS levels ( £90 altogether for a B and 3xC's) I give them the money so they can buy what they want or save it. Recently they have both been putting this sort of money towards their expedition funds so it has gone towards something htey are working for :D:D I was given money by my Dad 30 years ago for my O and A level results - it was an incentive to work hard and do well ( I think!!) :D
