chocchick
It is scary Phil. I found it shocking that my first year students this year were born in 1989 It's scary when you think you've just left university (well graduated if not left ) and realise the new arrivals look and act like children. I loved trolls and bodyshop and had those things on my bike spokes. I owned a Gordon T Gopher Thinking back we had 4(?) channels on the TV, and I used video/cassette tapes. They also missed Take That/East 17 and the Spice Girls. How could they? Time to go outside and try that chicken on lap trick, I'm obviously not working anymore
chelsea
blimey!!! anyone else find it scary when 20-somethings start reminiscing!!! old gimmers!! Phil Absolutely Nothing, I say nothing beats the eighties !! The Dogmother
'SCUSE me! Only 10 years too old, it was the 80s for me! (well OK, late 70s/early 80s then ) Me too Snowy I was 16 in 1979 if that helps I remember the hot summer of 1976 very well - I spent all summer poorly with chickenpox followed by glandular fever Had to keep cool and stay indoors! Cinnamon
I am with you there...I am all about the '80's I loved the way men wore eyeliner & actually took the time to stlye their hair Loved the clothes, music, everything When I met The Hubby in 1984 I as wearing this - Electric blue baggy trousers, ripped in places (like across the bum) with black fishnets underneath. A red shredded T shirt with a black vest under & pixie boots. My hair was orange & pink. I drank Dry Martini & lemonade & thought Claire Grogan was brilliant. Those were the days
chelsea
I can remember wearing electric blue eye liner !! Duran Duran, human league, wham, Spandau ballet. Smooching at the school disco. Jelly shoes and jelly handbags. Taping the top 40 on a sunday. I love reminiscing.
The Dogmother
I was punk in the late 70s/early 80s . Black suede pelmet skirt, ripped fishnets, thigh high black pixie boots, flourescent tops and an orange and black flat-top! Used to ride pillion on a boyfriend's motorbike, wearing my sleeveless leatehr jacket with fringes.... those were the days... industrial quantities of black eyeliner and white make up (never looked quite right on my dark skin )

rachel19
I was born in the 80's so remember most of those things - i had two wonderful shell suits, one turqoise and the other purple Don't forget the fab tv show knightmare!!!! I loved that as a kid My friends think i'm really old when i start talking about these kinds of things cos they're a couple of years younger than me and dont remember them. Also remember the days when H&M was still called Hennes!
Hellcat
As a nearly 39 I wouldnt know that, they were all way too young for me... Now, Take That.... Or is that my age (and a bottle of rioja) talking?
Snowy
Chelsea, Claret, Cinnamon - I am with you all the way on those last posts!! Wasn't into clothes much myself (unless I could ride in them ) but when not in joddys wore the bat wing jumper with skin tight jeans, leg warmers and impossibly high stilettos! LOVED the eighties. And I also remember that long hot summer of '76. But I was 12 - we'd just moved to Lytham St Annes from Newmills in Derbyshire, and I spent all summer either on the beach or toasting nicely on the lawn. *sigh* Memories! Gallina
This thread is sexist as well as ageist. I suppose a "Boys and girls of the 1960s" wouldn't work because if you remember them you weren't supposed to be there. But if anyone not in the forum's bad books would like to start one, I would love to join in.
Mrs Frugal
Gallina ! Please start one! I'm a child of the 60s and you're in no-one's bad books either . I'd love a 60s/70s reminiscences thread. I'd be very much at home!
gooner.girl
This thread is sexist as well as ageist. Wasn't suposed to be sexist or ageist Gallina, i just got sent something called 'Girls of the 90's which i thought would be fun to post... It can just be a general reminiscing thread if you want.... 'Challenge Anneka' had helicoptors Bronze... I used to love that.... Edited to include... Ooooh - and The Krypton Factor! I liked that to!!! bronze
rememebred it was interceptor Can they restart these programs I want to be on them
Gallina
I was joking about this topic being ageist (it has to be, otherwise it wouldn't make sense!). But for those who feel left out and don't know what all these young things are talking about, there is now a new thread underway for anyone who remembers the 1960s and 1970s. Snowy
Does anyone remember a cartoon with a boy who had an oxygen gun who could swim underwater? Oh I remember it - but the name escapes me ..... Theme tune was Telstar though! Edited to add: Marine Boy!!!!
Guest
Ooooh - and The Krypton Factor! I liked that to!!! Krypton factor was great!! I had a friend who once mentioned it in a lecture - but got all her vowels mixed up and called it the.. Krapton Fucter (which is what I always call it now!! ) and... as an oldie... tis surely correct to point out that a thread about the 90s is way more inclusive than one about the 60s - cos us oldies lived through both... yes - Gallina - you were also around in the 90s! Phil
Snowy
I admit to being around in the 90s, but I honestly can't remember much about them! Don't remember any of the music, no fashions spring to mind, and no TV programmes either. Must have been too busy working!
