Do I want a BlackBerry?

Recommended Posts

My hubby had to recently install one for a customer and in a word he'd say NO! They had an older model & he was asked to migrate the info, contacts etc from their old one onto the new one, and it was a complete nightmare. My Sis in law has one, and she doesn't like it, but its a work phone so she has no choice.

I have a curve and have had a pearl too. I love mine but I don't know anything else. I need mine to keep me up to date with work emails when I am on the move. I use it very little as a phone. It is pretty rubbish for internet browsing. If you don't email a lot I am sure that you can find something more suitable for your needs.

(don't know what a HTC is :anxious: )

I've got a Storm and I love it. My husband's i-phone might do more with the apps but I get coverage to make the actual phone calls (which is what a phone is supposed to do) when he doesn't. If I had an i-phone I'd be tempted to report them for breaching the trades description act.

:D

Making calls and its coverage is down to the networks, not the phone.

Sorry Fred, I beg to differ on that one..........my understanding is the older phones were much better at picking up a weak reception as they had less "other" technology to deal with such as cameras, games, music etc.....though I do agree that the coverage is toot around here to start with

A while ago I was going to buy a blackberry on pay as you go with orange, I went to the store & asked about it and the lady asked me whether I knew about this "hidden charge" that comes with them. Obviously I knew nothing about it. She said that every month, you get charged so much for an email account (i'm guessing thats the messenger etc.) on them, so whenever you top up, it automatically takes this money off.

Please, someone correct me if i'm wrong but thats what the woman told me. Thought i'd better just mention that, although if you wanted one to use for e-mail & internet it would be alright! :)

Hi

I have had a couple for work, I hate sending emails as the keys are tiny and I still have to come home and go on the laptop as I think I compose proper responses on a proper key board..ie not abbreviate. Also I cant see the difference to the emailing as texting! The files are a pain to wait to open and then you have to zoom in and cant look at the whole page.....a normal nokia is better. Phones got smaller and now bigger and you have to keep it in its case to protect the screen.

Mines for work but I wouldnt buy one

Donald

ps for some reason I hate getting emails on my laptop with sent from my blackberry(dont know why but its very irritating to get that message..it sounds like the person sending is in some kind of a rush)

I've had a Blackberry Bold and Curve and I love them. You definitely need a contract that includes internet coverage.

It takes a little while to get it set up. It's not plug and play but it is totally customisable.

If you can wait until December the new Blackberry is launched which is very tasty.

If you want a great phone plus internet and e-mail access I'd go for a Blackberry every time.
