Old Speckled Hen
Anybody watching Brian Cox on the tele? Anyway, take a look at this eclipse picture taken this morning. The black dot on top is the ISS.
Lesley
I watched yesterday but found Dara and Brian to be irritating, sorry. I was hoping to see the eclipse this morning but we had cloud all morning.
Charlottechicken
Stunning pic I was at work where we have a good panoramic view over Birmingham, but noticed it was very cloudy as the sun rose We had sunshine by noon though
sadietoo
I've been avidly watching...sometimes the planets, sometimes Prof Cox This morning my girls seemed to think it was roosting time, and they both disappeared into the eglu as the light levels dropped
craftyhunnypie
That is funny - I didn't know about this eclipse, but it makes sense now. I wondered why it was so very dark yesterday morning. I always worry about hubby's chickens being out free ranging when it's so dark in the morning. Emma.x

I find him strangely attractive Weather has foiled my attempts at seeing Jupiter, eclipse, meteors etc.
patsylabrador
I was just trying to post this. It's a fantastic image, thanks for putting it up. I've got it on my computer as a background now.
The Dogmother
I haven't had a chance to watch the programme - will have to catch up another time. He's fine in small doses Thanks for the great photo - I missed the eclipse too, due to bad weather yesterday, but it was darker this morning than yesterday. Lesley
We had a gorgeous sunrise here this morning - typical!
bluekarin
I was just trying to post this. It's a fantastic image, thanks for putting it up. I've got it on my computer as a background now. me too, so thank you. I have been watching it on and off, and much as I like Dara and Brian, I have found it a little annoying. I will be getting one of those planet-scope things though (date and times to know what's in the night sky at any time of year). I would have loved to know more about what to look for in a telescope, so as a beginner, I'd know what to buy. I think the Jonathan Ross bit is a waste of time. He has far too much money if he has all those telescopes and no idea how to use them. I could also have done with a bit more ringing round the stars/planets etc they were talking about. Cinnamon
The black dot on top is the ISS. You sure that's not a Tie-Fighter from Star Wars?
Old Speckled Hen
You could be right The fat irish bloke irritates me like the devil. I wish he'd stop interrupting with those stupid jokes.
bluekarin
You could be right I think you might be right too. The pic above is near and the one at the top is far away (trying to remember the joke in Father Ted, about the big and small cows)
Old Speckled Hen
Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. Lesley
I ordered a telescope on Wednesday and it arrived this morning - at 7.30, in the pitch black - and I wasn't dressed I bought it with my Birthday money before it all disappeared to pay bills or housekeeping - so many years my Birthday money has had to do that! It's quite basic but I'm very pleased with it. I've been watching garden birds and the hens with it today and it's too cloudy tonight to see any stars or planets with it. Valkyrie
Little did I know that when I started looking in awe at that fantastic piccy that I would also be reminded of Star Wars and Father Ted! It does look like a Tie-Fighter! Sadly although the rest of the sky was clear, the only blinking patch of cloud was on the eastern horizon so no chance of seeing the eclipse. But these past few mornings have been sooooo dark and dismal we've had to have the lights on (which is really irritating now summer's coming and it should be LIGHTER!!! ) Jupiter's been around for sometime now and I think someone said the other (not quite so big and bright) "star" was Saturn (but I can't remember).
