Lesley
I've just made this scarf for my daughter's birthday, it's silk chiffon with a reversible pattern, check one side and random on the other - purple/grey merino, tussah silk and some of our own Shetland fibres. There are a few purple glitter fibres in it as well. It's only lightly felted so it's lovely and soft. I've also made a wax Tealight Holder for a swap on another forum......... a real pain to make and every time I tried to tidy it up by heating it, it fell apart Edited January 26, 2011 by Guest

Snowy
Gorgeous! But how does the tealight holder work? Won't it collapse with a lit tealight in it?

Charlottechicken
Wow! How did you make the scarf? I would love to be able to make something like that.
Omletina Kyckling
Loving the nuno scarf, Lesley, and the candle is lovely too...... Charlottechicken, you need to come to an Omletstock for a bit of felting!!
Egluntyne
Simply gorgeous ... I must admit I wondered the same as Snowy about the tealight holder. So pretty.

Snowy
Come on Lesley, put us out of our misery - how does the tealight holder work? (I bet she's away testing it as we speak!)
Lesley
No, I've been making more scarves! - and taking a large dose of painkillers......back, wrists, knees.....all hurt The candle is fine with a tealight.....rushes off to check spare one ..........you use wax with a high melting point (or add Vybar or stearin), it's just that I used the hairdrier for too long on the joins at each corner. Kirstie made one on her last programme, with seashells pressed into the wax - I watched it on 4o/d and made notes, I think they used a heat gun which may have worked a bit better! Claire - Diane is right, go to Omletstock3 to learn about felting - or there is plenty to read if you Google it. My scarves are a cross between Nuno and Cobweb so they're not really either. I'm making wedding and Christening shawls......and may make a proper cobweb shawl tomorrow.....if I can move! I need to wash some more of our Shetland fleece as well and that's also a killer! Snowy
Thank you! They certainly look very pretty! Not surprised you ache though - until we did it at Omletina's, I didn't realise what hard physical work it was to felt. And I only made a place mat! Lesley
It really is hard - I'm just waiting for my breakfast painkillers to kick in so that I can start the next one I'll post photos of yesterdays scarves as soon as I can move to find the camera! Lesley
More scarves...... I found an old chiffon scarf.... ...and felted it, green slubby flashes on one side and cream merino and tussah on the other... The Merino, Shetland and tussah baby shawl..... ..and the one which took all the time today........the Cobweb Shawl..... I won't make another cobweb shawl - it nearly killed me! I'm going to be making more of the baby shawls, slightly bigger than the one above. I've run out of fleece now - but I have got a bath full of Shetland and a very LSH who keeps running up and changing the water

Omletina Kyckling
Errrrr WOWEEEE!! I think my crown of Queen Felter has just been taken!! They are stunning....I'm getting itchy fingers now to felt again!! ....except my fingers joints are bad so will have to work up to it. Have you seen there is an Omletstock March 12/13 if you can make it? The hotel up the road is easily accessible!
Lesley
Don't worry - your crown is safe D I've done lots of smaller bits of felting but decided it was time to get on with my project of Christening and Wedding shawls - the others are family presents. I have noted the dates for Omletstock but it's my son's birthday so probably won't make it.........
