Plum
Intended to craft all sorts of items from willow branches. They've been pecking and carrying them around all day. and any excuse to post some more pictures of the girls and the babies growing up

Plum
or you could make an egg basket or dustbath. Would be great of you could give me some tips how to do it. I'm going to have a look for a course. Shame to throw away all those twigs

Chortle Chook
What lovely pictures, Plum. The heart is a really pretty decoration for your chickens' run - so sweet. Chickens seem to have a bit of thing about wicker. Mine have totally demolished some of those little wicker hurdles used to 'fence in' bits of garden. They liked to sit on the top, rocking back and forth until, bam, hurdle and chicken were in the mud. After a bit of this, no more hurdles. Plum
Note to self not to use wicker hurdles in the garden They are still messing with their toys. They've stripped most of the bark off the willow. Must try it looks fun

Plum
I just cut the long branches down each autumn (bit late this year) and have used the flexible branches that bend more than 90 degrees. I just trimmed off side shoots, don't know if that's right or not Post pictures of any chicken toys you make.
LizzieLloyd
I love the little ladders you have in your run. Weather permitting we will be building our WIR at the weekend so I am looking for inspiration on toys and branches. My girls love getting up on top of their coop so I was planning to put in a few levels so they get a better view. Any suggestions? I think I now have free reign to put in some pretty decorations having seen your lovely wicker accessories
LauraJ
How do you keep your hens so clean?!? Mine seem to be mucky little things, even though they have a nice big dust bath (which they love) and their house and run get poo picked every morning they still look filthy compared to yours
Plum
Bits of ladder, I presume you mean the ledge is lawn edging and then there's an ikea wooden stool, a gymnasium I made and a garden bench and a small coop in there plus sandbath. Busy place They aren't clean just dark colours and my cameras not that good. Now if you have to have white hens...........Ooooh I'd love a light sussex bantam

They have their own strawberry plants in pots which will be going into the WIR so I'll take your lead and put in some bits to make a chicky gym and a nice stone bench I have so I can sit in with them. Plum
Are you going to put the strawberry pots within their reach? Chicky gym and in action and before you say it - yes it is clean that was the first day in the WIR
Chortle Chook
Plum, that Chicky gym is just fantastic. I love the picture of the little hen about to do some Olympic feat - maybe a double somersault? She is not called Olga or Nadia is she? (Or am I just showing my age?)
