Not going to rush anything. However, she sees it otherwise and keeps whipping in with the others but I extricate her before anything can happen. Been a bit of posturing through the wire so hope they get most of it over with while at arms length.

Perhaps one of your eggs will be a white chicken?

Good luck Sammiboo let us know how you get on. Is it the exbatt :D

heh - good luck! It seems to be all about persistance!

We rescued a chicken of fate (a light sussex bantam) in November. The big girls and her are fine to FR together but they're still not ready to live together - I think it'll take another month at least.

Agree with your method of introduction. Love a light sussex bantam one day. Nearly brought home a buff sussex bantam she was so gorgeous............and a pekin.........and a RIR bantam .............and a anacona but OH gave me the evil eye

i put 8 chickens of which only 2 had met before together in a new run...

the 2 original ones i had are the boss's and even after nearly two week we still get a bit of fighting... my leghorn (same as this one i believe) fights with the 2 originals.. but they all have a pecking order a few feather have been lost no blood but they are calming down.. the all live in a big WIR and sleep in a cube...

even my vorwerk keeps having a peck at me barnvelder... and the appenzeller has a peck at the vorwerk...

doubt it will ever stop totally...

There's still pecks and chases in my original girls but I think mostly due to 4 of them recently becoming mature or coming into lay and the effects of spring on the pecking order among them. All makes it interesting and no one gets hurt just occasionally lose pride. :D

it is natural for all animals to fight and sort out the pecking order... i know we don't like the girls being hurt.. and usually from what i have seen.. it generally doesn't apart froma few feathers.. my leghorn has fewer feahers on her chest...

in my mind as long as no blood is being drawn.. leave em for as long as you can.. othert wise each time is like another introduction...

one iof my warrens acts like a cockerel at time and tramples on the little girls but the never come to harm..

they will sort themselves evebntually...

Oh I did laugh about the leg envy :lol: Being a shorty I know how it feels :anxious: .

I had to introduce a lone chook just before Christmas. It wasn't that she got picked on really (though she was only allowed last lookin on treats), it was more that she was always pushed out on her own. However now she is in with the rest :D . . . . . .

. . .and getting her fair share of the cockerel's (rather unwanted) attentions.

No cockerals here :anxious: I don't think she'll miss out on treats though I wouldn't dream of giving them any at present - recipe for ructions. She cowtails to Grackle but she may well end up second or third in command.

For some reason i let her out in garden with others tonight for ten minutes. Just Grackle jumped on her a couple of times and she ran off. Those legs are mighty fast! Others took no notice.

Thanks Jac, I let them all out in the garden for 10mins tonight with no problems. She just scooted out of the way if Grackle or Pigeon looked at her.

Then when the others were in bed she escaped from her run and jumped in with them :shock:

They are all settled so I'll just have to get up early and seperate them and guess I'll just try them together in the run at the weekend. Must be quickest slow integration ever

Beautiful lady!!! I can understand her strutting her leggy-stuff....I've got very long legs too!!:lol::lol:

I hope the intros go well!!! :D

I'm in the same boat with Intros....1 to 3. :( I'm usually against it but my heart ruled my head...I was supposed to just buy two girls for Oscar in his new pad but saw Nutmeg and had to have her. She's the spitting image of Wonky (who was PTS last Autumn  ) and I couldn't let her go down the stables, I wanted her at home.

The girls ignored her at first, she was in her own run. Now she's sectioned off in the WIR and we've had some nasty incidents when she's broken out (I still can't figure out how!!! but have increased security to be sure she can't do it again) and sadly she's now injured. They'll removed most her crest...and pecked at the flesh around her eyes, her ears and comb...and she's bleeding slightly. I've wiped her clean but daren't apply anything as it's so close to her eye.

The idea was to keep her separate until the girls lost interest...then introduce one to one....then two to two....

Will this work/is it just a question of patience? Or do I need to admit defeat? :(
