Catholicatheart
Is it just me, or has part of your garden turned into a cemetery? I've got around 25 chickens buried in one area.

keyhole kate
I take mine to the vets to have cremated. The last time I lost a girl I phoned to check on the cost in case it had gone up significantly the Receptionist put me on hold while she went to ask someone the cost when she returned she asked me was the hen dead I said of course I wouldnt bring her to be cremated if she were still alive Honest you couldn't make it up
Jools
Mine get "planted" too, usually with a shrub or some bulbs to mark the spot.
sparkysmum
When my little pekin died a couple of weeks ago, we had her cremated. They (Elysian Fields) sent a little certificate & a posy of dried flowers. A dignified end for a sweet little hen. Think I would do this again. Valkyrie
So far only one has gone, so took her to the vets to be cremated.
craftyhunnypie
Yes mine are all buried & under large concrete flags. As are my 2 cats. I will soon be leaving them behind, but photos & fond memories will be moving with me. My next house will also be the same. Emma.x
Seagazer
I've only had one die so far and she died on the way to the vets to have her put to sleep I just got them to check that she was in fact dead and then they had her cremated for me. I didn't have the ashes back though. I think when the others die then they will probably be double bagged. We have way too many foxes around here. All the rest of my pets have been cremated and then their ashes have been buried in the garden.

Luvachicken
I wouldn't trust the fox not to dig it up here although we have buried little animals under stepping stones. I did have one chicken pts and then paid 2 pounds to have her cremated. I didn't like the thought of putting her in my bin
Patricia W
I think Defra guidelines are either have them cremated by a vet or double bag and put in the bin.
