M&S Dine in :-)

OK, look at it this way......the sort of dish you are talking about sounds pretty basic & the Veggie dishes normally on the offer are on the more luxurious side - garlic, cream, cheese etc.

I was talking about the veggie dishes being luxurious,& therefore more within the same price bracket as the meat dishes, which are naturally more expensive,be they made with free range or standard welfare meat :)

The goats' cheese and pesto en croute actually looks pretty good, but I what I would really like to see back on the £10 which I haven't seen included for ages is the veggie moussaka... But of course, that's my favourite dish, the other 4 million veggies out there might disagree with me entirely... which is why it would be nice to have a choice of two dishes

That's my favourite M&S veggie dish too and I usually stock up on them when they're on offer (which is quite often). The goats cheese and pesto en croute sounds lovely but I've never seen it in my local store in Kendal :(

I'm a mushroom and cheese loving veggie, but my :vom::vom: ingredients are most nuts and too many tomatoes!

They did have a really lovely looking Butternut risotto one time (no good for lactose), a great veggie option. I'm a meat eater but like veggie meals too. I didn't get the risotto because i saw something LSH liked, but it was mouthwatering to see.

I did get the beef "olives" in something fancy sauce this time, because I fancied a bottle of wine. All yummy. :D

We stretch it to 3 people by adding veg, or I have smaller portion but more wine  , but D2 went out, all the more for us.

Have any of you seen the Tesco meal deals? They do tow types, a family one for four without wine, or the Finest meal for two with wine; the trouble is that each dish seems to contain mushrooms or spinich. That applies to the meat based dishes as well as the veggie ones! I don't mind mushrooms but can't eat risotto, as the texture is :vom:

Mind you, we've progressed a bit since all we got offered was a nut cutlet or lentil soup...

My local M&S had sold out of mains last night. Went to Tescos, got a nice fish risotto (I do eat fish), they also do a nice butternut squash lasagne. It worked out well, I actually preferred their mains this time. Also love the Waitrose squash in filo pastry they do in the 'dine in'. Yum!

We did very well today - one of the 'Oakham' chickens (Trusted farm which I think is what they class as free range), plus veggies, non alcoholic presse (i'm pregnant) and a HUGE thing of profiteroles. Best thing is the chook leftovers will do for sandwiches all week.

Not bad for £10

We love those beef olives too Sheila. Rosie and I popped into the Stratford branch on Saturday as it's always less crowded than the one in Banbury. They had the beef olives/roulades in stock so (as Phil is up this weekend) we got 2 meal deals and are still enjoying it, it gives me a break from cooking too as both of them can easily do the M&S ready meals.

I'm off this week, so about to go down to M&S to see what's on offer. My friend has already been and sent me this email:

Went to M&S after work, they are sort of lying.

As in lots more things on the shelves than online (plaice fillets with something, pork medallions and cheese and biscuits). But its a case of playing Miss Marple. They only have two shelves (have been having three, one for main, one for sides, one for desserts), and reading what is on offer on the side ends (I bought the pork, none on the proper shelves, found it where it normally is, but not marked up in the offer), so if you go down take a lot of time and a magnifying glass.

What are they up to?

I know that each store is able to substitute a dish, should it sell out or become unavailable.

Happened to me before - been in for one dish, came home with something else than wasn't on the offer alert, but still on offer.

Reading store still has 4 shelves: one for main, one for sides one for puds & one nearer the front with a mixture of all 3.

I went to M&S quite late on Saturday afternoon, there wasn't much on the shelves but I found what appeared to be the last salmon (and it was delicious) A vegetable layer, pannacotta and an agreeable bottle of red. I never looked on line to see what was supposed to be on offer, I hadn't planned on going to M&S this weekend.
