Valkyrie
"Slipping through my fingers" has always choked me, can't finish it. So I made myself listen to it over and over so I could sing along without bawling. But if I don't hear it for ages then it still has the same effect and then I get cross with myself! Seagazer
Sometimes when we touch by Dan Hill - heard it again after a long break in the car last week and it made me all choked up. The words get to me every time. If you could read my mind by Gordon Lightfoot (I know I keep mentioning this song ) its about the break up of his marriage and it was obviously quite raw for him. A beautiful song about a really sad subject.
Saronne
'Fix You' by Cold Play does it for me...anyone see that documentary about that 'alternative' choir made up of elderly people - the choir master (who was a genius) gave them really up to date pop/rock/blues songs to learn. There were two men who were set to sing 'Fix You' for their big performance, but one died shortly before, so the other man had to sing it alone. It made me blub BIG time.. Lydia
by TIm Finn When hubby and I were having difficulties a few years back this was the song that always did not. We're fine now but the song is a poignant reminder. Ps The video is complete rubbish, don't judge it on the video!
PurpleTree
If I'm having one of those days almost anything can make me blub. I love Hurt by Nine Inch Nails, the original (& in my view, best), although I do have the Johnny Cash version too.
Cinnamon
'Everybody hurts' by REM gets to me too. And 'The Streets of Philadelphia' by Springsteen, which is beautiful.

helenp
The worst for making me blub is "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol. It was the song on the radio when I got in my car after my beloved Dad passed away. "Come What May" from Moulin Rouge as well.
patsylabrador
Wonder by Embrace. Came out just after ES joined the army & I missed him dreadfully. It still affects me & I couldn't listen to it when he was in Iraq & Afghanistan. Safely out of army now but it brings back blubby memories. Goosey Lucy
Just remembered another one: Puff the Magic Dragon *sniff* I nearly disgraced myself at YS Assembly a year ago when they acted this out. Having read everyone else's posts, I've realised there are lots of songs that move me to tears for many different reasons. I think the ones I remember from my childhood move me the most, several by Peter, Paul and Mary also The Seekers, I think I remember my mum singing and However if I can be really indulgent, I would like to be played at my funeral. Actually I'd like the whole of the the Requiem but I think that might be a bit much Going off to find a box of tissues now
sadietoo
At my kids' school they used to sing..."one more step along the road I go!".. at the leaving assemblies...there wasn't a dry eye in the house...I swear the teachers ran a sweepstake to see who would have most mascara tracks..(I probably won!!!)... All sorts of song can make me well up if they catch me off guard...today it was "Sway" by Dean Martin..really couldn't tell you why..... At Dad's funeral we had this (no adverse comments when I checked)... I can't listen without blubbing awfully, but I still find it incredibly reassuring and soothing... and why can I still not post links like every other person on here???? sorry Edited April 17, 2011 by Guest
poppy ben grace
Just remembered another one: Puff the Magic Dragon *sniff*I nearly disgraced myself at YS Assembly a year ago when they acted this out. I used to love this too until OH suggested it was actually written about drug taking!
donald
Everybody Hurts REM after a family member unexpected suicide if this comes on the radio it brings it all back, I will often shed a tear of private sadness if I hear this in the car driving. But Terry Jacks my thats showing my age, remember that from my childhood! I love the Eagles Hotel California LP and I still think thats one of the best LPs ever made the whole album is brilliant, doesnt make me blub but it was the first LP I ever bought. 10cc Im Not in Love, brings it back too
Griffin
A lot of Damien Rice songs make me cry, he's brutally honest about life and love. Accidental Babies had me in floods of tears for ages though. I don't regret any of my children but before I fell pregnant with my eldest I'd been in an on/off relationship with a lovely chap for a couple of years. We adored each other. I wish Damien could've written that song before 1996, I would've heeded his wise words. I think of that lovely chap often and wonder what might've been if we had been more honest and stopped being silly.
Henchanted
This ones a bit left field maybe but it had such a profound effect on me as a kid when I first heard it in the late 70s and it still makes me blub. 'Flowers Are Red..' by Harry Chapin A light and simple song with a profound message, its so easy to stifle or irreversibly damage creativity with ignorance and carelessness. Hey, teacher, leave the kids alone...
Ain't Nobody Here
and why can I still not post links like every other person on here???? sorry Links are no longer automatic when you type them - you need to highlight your link and click 'URL' . I love the Eagles Hotel California LP and I still think thats one of the best LPs ever made the whole album is brilliant, doesnt make me blub but it was the first LP I ever bought. Snap . Buying it is still a vivid memory after more than 30 years (am I really that old ?) Although I'm not that keen on Sinead O'Connor, I do love "Nothing Compares to You". "Yesterday" reminds me of an Austrian boy I met on a school exchange aged 14 - bit of a language barrier but I do remember slow dancing to that song .
