I know there is a weather thread,but thought that this is so important it warrants a thread of its own.

 

I heard on the radio that from Saturday,for about 2 weeks,we are forecast a heatwave,with temps from 28 - 30 degrees.

Of course these being British met office forecasters I wouldn't unpack the sun loungers just yet,but wouldn't it be lovely if they were right?

Although that is pretty darn hot & we in the south east are desperate for some rain

and we're away half term week... typical, when we went to Portugal, the weather here was better than over there!

It is much warmer here today than it was at the weekend, but quite humid and the odd spot of rain in the air. We could have done with more of that real rain that we had last weekend, it has all passed us by except for 1mm on Saturday evening.

 

Having said that i wouldn't say no to summer, but maybe not so good for those taking exams in the next few weeks

Ooo that would be fab. I washed & ironed all my nice summer clothes & then it went sooo cold! So they are all waiting to be worn.

Well that sounds absolutely super. My new summer dress has only had one outing so far this year and we have bought some new patio furniture which I'd like to be able to use.

 

On the flip side, I agree with Cinnamon - we are desperate for some rain. It's not rained properly here (just the odd spit and spot) for over 2 months

I thought we were forecast to get some rain soon, very disappointed, it's getting hard to keep veg going & I think they've lowered water pressure. I saw sad picture of housemartins trying to find mud for their nests.

We badly need rain here, the only crops doing well in this drought are the rapeseed which are 6' high!

All the crops we went to see on Agric Tour are struggling with drought and then there was frost too that got to some of the potatoes!

 

My first thought about Heatwave were exams too - tis horrible being stuck in a boiling hot hall or sports hall doing exams!

Noooo! We are desperate for rain - it's approaching drought conditions here already. And I don't really do sun - besides which I have to travel on the Tube every day and that's going to be just horrible.

Just checked on Metcheck and for our area at least it is cloudy and cool the first week and then bucketing rain and gale force winds the second. Hopefully we will actually get something in between the two extremes!

I'm glad you said that Lay a little egg, the forecast for London isn't mentioning heatwaves so far. I assumed I was missing something.

Just checked the forecast for my area on Metcheck. Next week the highest temp forecast is 12c. The following week the highest temperature forecast is 5c and towards the end of the week it dips to 3c, oh, and also night time temperatures go in the minus figures

 

I think I will delay planting out the Runner Beans, dig out my thermals and put the storage heaters back on

We have dull weather but mild forecast, it is very humid here though I struggled to get my washing dry today despite a stiff breeze.

I put mine out at lunchtime Liz and it was dry when I got home - quick blast in the drier to soften it up and it was lovely.

I love the thought of hot sunny weather but in reality i know i will be awake having more hot flushes - this last few weeks have felt really hot at night and I end up flinging off the duvet and switching on the fan numerous times a night while my hubby sleeps on in oblivion. I'm definately coming back as a man next time around!!

OK, I have a confession to make,I think.

 

I DID hear this on the radio in the morning,just after I woke up,but I am now wondering if it was that odd between sleep & wakefulness time...................basically I am wondering if I dreamt it
